Sesame is a plant grown in India including in other countries is also known as ‘Til’ has several beneficial factors which have been mentioned in Indian Ayurveda. This has been used by ancestors as a heat generator in our body and added to many cosmetic products.
The botanical name of Sesame is Sesamum indicum and it belongs to the family Pedaliaceae.
Sesame seeds are among the oldest known seeds used for oil production. They are said to be domesticated well over 3,000 years ago. It has a huge amount of oil has a nutty flavor and is used to trigger allergic reactions in some people.
The cultivated type of sesame seeds is originated in India and now India is the largest producer of Sesame seeds. Some other researchers have traced the origin of seeds in Ethiopia.
