In Amravati, Maharashtra, a pharmacist was found murdered, adding to the national unrest stemming from the murder of a Hindu tailor in Udaipur.

Umesh Kolhe, a pharmacist, was fatally murdered on June 21 in Amravati while returning home as a result of a social media post in support of Nupur Sharma, a suspended BJP spokeswoman whose comments about Prophet Mohammed have sparked intense backlash both domestically and internationally.

The National Investigative Agency has detained all seven suspects, including the alleged mastermind Shaikh Irfan Shaikh Rahim, as well as Muddasar Ahmad (age 22), Shahrukh Pathan (age 25), Abdul Taufiq (age 24), Shoaib Khan (age 22), Atib Rashid (age 22), and Yusuf Khan (age 32), in connection with the murder of the chemist in Amravati, Maharashtra (NIA).

All of the accused were held by the NIA and were given a four-day transit remand on Monday after being presented to the Amravati court.

Around 10 days after the murder, Union Home Minister Amit Shah ordered the investigation agency to take over the case after the local BJP unit accused the police of trying to hide the true circumstances for political purposes.

After the NIA was instructed to take over the investigation, the police acknowledged that Umesh Kolhe was slain as a result of his social media post.

According to Arti Singh, Police Commissioner of Amravati, the authorities withheld the information in the past due to the 'extremely sensitive' nature of the crime.

Due to the spreading of messages in favor of Nupur Sharma, the police were made aware of this murder; yet, they handled the situation delicately to preserve the city's social cohesion. The eighth suspect, who was riding a bike, will also be apprehended, according to the commissioner of police, who further explained that Amravati City police have already detained 7 suspects. The city police are fully assisting the National Investigation Agency in its investigation. Additionally, she urged people to file written police complaints regarding threats made over social media sites.

According to the police, Irfan Shaikh provided the attackers with the bike and money so they could kill Umesh Kolhe. Officials claimed that another accused Dr. Yusuf Khan, a close friend of the victim, was responsible for spreading Umesh Kolhe's post to a Muslim WhatsApp group, which is how it became popular.

Following their appearance before a local court by the police, the suspects, including the suspected mastermind Irfan Shaikh Rahim, were brought into custody by the NIA yesterday evening.

According to sources, they will now appear before an NIA court in Mumbai on or before July 8. Shamim Ahmed, a further suspect in the case, is being sought by police.

His family has now asked for a trial to take place in a quick court. The crime is reportedly related to the beheading of a tailor this week in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is looking into both instances, and the central agency has designated the Amravati murder as a 'terror crime.'

Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor in Udaipur, Rajasthan, was brutally murdered by two men for supporting Nupur Sharma exactly one week before Kolhe's murder. The alleged murderer recorded the incident and released the footage. However, they were taken into custody a short time after the horrific murder.

In the meantime, the BJP unit in Amravati and other civic groups held a public memorial service for Umesh Kohli yesterday in Amravati. Amaravati will develop into a fearless city, according to Dr. Anil Bonde, a Rajya Sabha MP representing the city.

Within a month, there have been two instances of this kind. People are being killed because they backed Nupur Sharma. This is wrong! Simply because you disagree with someone's viewpoint does not justify murdering them. Is human life worth so little? Islamists are threatening and killing Hindus, yet the Hindus or those who support them are supposedly in the wrong according to the law! Many different religions have existed in India. Even though we may not share their ideologies, we have welcomed and respected all religions, and we have never threatened or killed anyone because of it. So why are Hindus in this predicament? And why doesn't the law take action right away?

Even if the perpetrators are apprehended by the police, what good would it do if they are only kept in remand custody? How will the relatives of the victims obtain justice? These kinds of injustices can fuel resentment and the incarceration of the victim. But the law will only assign culpability to such individuals. I agree that all religions should be honored equally, but is it really only our responsibility to do so, and if so, why? We have to welcome people with open arms because the majority of the population is Hindu, but they don't even want to try?

They don't even regard us as being similar to them, much less appreciate us. They continue to treat us and our religion poorly, but we're not supposed to speak out? Why? Because, according to the law, Hindus are the only ones who should be wiser, more mature, and accepting of everyone else's transgressions while they refuse to even acknowledge or atone for them.
