SCAM HISTORY OF CONGRESS PARTY AND ITS INVOLVEMENT 

The Congress Party, also known as the Indian National Congress, is one of the oldest and most prominent political parties in India. Founded in 1885, the party played a pivotal role in India's struggle for independence from British colonial rule. However, over the years, the party has been embroiled in numerous scams and controversies that have tarnished its reputation.

One of the earliest scams involving the Congress Party was the Jeep scandal in the 1940s. The party's leaders were accused of accepting bribes from a foreign automobile company to supply jeeps to the Indian Army. The scandal rocked the party and led to a split within its ranks.

In the 1970s, the Congress Party was accused of rigging the general elections. The party used its vast resources and political influence to manipulate the electoral process, resulting in a landslide victory for the party. However, the allegations of electoral fraud led to widespread protests and a loss of credibility for the Congress Party.

THE BOFORS SCANDAL

In the 1980s, the Bofors scandal rocked the nation and implicated the Congress Party's leadership. The party was accused of receiving kickbacks from a Swedish arms manufacturer for the purchase of Bofors guns for the Indian Army. The scandal not only tarnished the party's reputation but also led to the downfall of Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

THE HARSHAD MEHTA SCAM

In the 1990s, the Harshad Mehta scam shook the country's financial system and implicated several Congress Party leaders. Harshad Mehta, a stockbroker, had manipulated the stock market and syphoned off crores of rupees from public sector banks. Many Congress Party leaders were accused of colluding with Mehta and benefiting from the scam

 

THE 2G SCAM

In the 2000s, the Congress Party was accused of involvement in several high-profile scams. The 2G scam, which came to light in 2008, involved the sale of 2G spectrum licences at throwaway prices, causing a loss of Rs. 1.76 lakh crore to the exchequer. Several Congress Party leaders, including former Telecom Minister A. Raja, were accused of benefiting from the scam.

THE COMMON WEALTH SCAM

The Commonwealth Games scam, which came to light in 2010, involved massive corruption in the organisation of the Commonwealth Games held in Delhi. Several Congress Party leaders were accused of inflating the costs of various projects and pocketing kickbacks.

THE COAL SCAM

The Coal scam, which came to light in 2012, involved the allocation of coal blocks to private companies without following the proper procedures, causing a loss of Rs. 1.86 lakh crore to the exchequer. Several Congress Party leaders were accused of colluding with the companies and benefiting from the scam.

THE ADARSH HOUSING SCAM

The Adarsh Housing Society scam, which came to light in 2010, involved the illegal construction of a high-rise building in Mumbai meant for war widows and veterans. Several Congress Party leaders were accused of using their influence to get flats in the building and benefiting from the scam.

Conclusion

The above-mentioned scams are just the tip of the iceberg. The Congress Party's involvement in corruption and scams runs deep, and it has been accused of using its political power and influence to amass wealth illegally. The party's leadership has repeatedly denied the allegations and claimed that they are politically motivated.

However, the fact remains that the Congress Party has lost much of its credibility and trust among the people of India due to its involvement in scams and corruption. The party has been unable to shake off its tainted image and has struggled to regain its position as a major political force in the country.

In conclusion, the Congress Party's involvement in scams and corruption has been a major blot on its reputation. The party, which once played a pivotal role in India's freedom struggle, has now become synonymous with corruption and nepotism.

If we criticise the congress harshly for its 15 years of ineffective governance in the state, they are the "Merchants of Corruption." By encouraging recruitment frauds in every sector, they had established shops of blatantly corrupt behaviour. The current state government had to spend a lot of time cleaning up the mess that the previous administration had left behind, and Congress no longer had the moral authority to call out other governments for corruption.
 

The party did not even hesitate to steal the food intended for the underprivileged children as the Congress regime saw scams in children's food under the social welfare department, ration cards in the name of fake beneficiaries, allotment of bonded warehouses under excise department, disbursement of untied fund, land requisition, and other shining examples of the party's 15 years of misrule in the state.

Congress has been attacking the current government's every move in an attempt to obscure its own wrongdoings, and I don't think the people of that state would be fooled by such cunning plans.
