Playing text to speech
If we educate a boy, we educate one PERSON, but if we educate a girl, we educate a FAMILY
Today women and men stand on the same platform and demand equal opportunity for the same. The situation of women in India has changed in the past decades.
There was a time when women used to live under the veil in Indian society and they were not allowed to go outside without men but at present, it has totally changed and women now represent the nation on international platforms.
Women in sports were negligible when it was started and even some countries were allowing females to watch the sport from the stadium but none were allowed to participate. The situation changed when they realised the importance of equal representation in the nation.
After the independence of India, Government made some specific acts related to stopping crime against females like Hindu Marriage Act 1955 and the Hindu Succession Act 1956, and many more.
Government support is necessary to enhance the condition of women in society hence government laid down the provisions for reservation for women in government employment including Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in Parliament.
If we evaluate the representation of women in the Commonwealth Games 2022, there is a positive result found. Out of all Indian medals in CWG, 25 medals were bagged by women athletes and Mirabai Chanu was the first woman who won the first gold medal in the CWG 2022.
Indian women furled the Indian Flag in a foreign country during the opening ceremony of Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. During the event, Indian women athletes have been the center of attraction, and famous actor Chris Hemsworth called the gold medalist Mira Bai Chanu who comes from a weaker section family and worked hard to be there.
Many female athletes also bagged several medals in CWG 2022 as Nikhat Zareen in Boxing, Brindyarani Devi in Weightlifting, and Susheela Devi in jodo. Their effort and their hard work added beauty to the country’s flag.
India’s government is providing equal opportunity in every field from the military to the air force and scientists to space research.
