Benefits of Agnipath Scheme in the Military Modernization

Playing text to speech

To make the nation's military leaner, fitter, and younger, the Center last week unveiled the novel and comprehensive Agnipath recruitment plan. Agnipath is an initiative to enlist young people in India in the armed services. The programme enables motivated young people who are patriotic to serve in the military for four years. With the intention of placing younger, more physically fit soldiers on the front lines, the Agnipath system involves a recruiting process for those with ranks below those of commanders. It will modify the game and give the Army, Navy, and Air Force a more modern appearance.

Despite the fact that the news sparked demonstrations in several areas, the administration steadfastly defended the plan, claiming that it will assist the military in the long run.

The implication is that the programme will gradually lower the military's soaring wage and pension costs, freeing up a sizable chunk of money for the modernization of the armed forces.

The remuneration package for the first year is Rs 4.76 lakh, rising to Rs 6.92 lakh in the fourth year. After the release, the Seva Nidhi Package will cost around Rs. 11.71 lakh, interest included (tax-free) There is also a Rs 48 lakh non-contributory insurance cover. If the individuals receive an Agniveer skill certificate, it will help them find post-release employment.

It provides young people with a once-in-a-lifetime chance to serve their country and support economic growth. The Armed Forces would be younger and more energetic. The Agniveers will be provided with a respectable financial package in addition to the chance to train in the greatest military ethos in civil society and institutions while also enhancing their abilities and credentials. This will produce young people in civil life who are talented, disciplined and have a military mindset. The effort will provide young people with more employment opportunities. The military will benefit from the kids being employed since young people are better equipped to function on the front lines of battle.

The 'Agniveer' has been guaranteed work by the Center and different state governments after retirement under the system, despite the movement's ferocity:

  1. On Thursday, the union government pledged to reserve 10% of positions in the Home and Defense Ministries for “Agniveers.”

  2. Following a meeting with the leaders of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force on Saturday, General Manoj Pandey, Admiral R Hari Kumar, and Air Chief Marshal VR Chowdhary, Rajnath said that 10% of positions in the Indian Coast Guard will be earmarked for Agniveers. The 16 state-owned businesses under the Ministry of Defence are similarly affected.

  3. Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles would reserve 10% of their positions for agniveers, according to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Agniveers will receive an additional three years of exemption from the scheme's age requirement to join the CAPFS and Assam Rifles, according to a pledge made by the Ministry of Home Affairs. For the initial group of Agniveers, it has been extended to five years.
