Indian Air Force Day 2020 : Story Of Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon

Playing text to speech

The country is celebrating National Air Force Day on 08 October. On this occasion, how can we forget the names of the brave airmen who put the moon in our air force's gallantry and then inflated the chest of the country.

One of them was Nirmaljit Singh Sekhon, (Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon) who flew 06 Pakistani planes while flying his fighter jet alone. 03 Pakistani planes were shot down alone.

Flying officer Nirmaljit Singh Sekhon was an honored air soldier with Paramveer Chakra. He received this honor posthumously in 1971. In 1971, while fighting against Pakistan, Sekhon found heroism in the war in which India emerged victoriously. Breaking from Pakistan, the eastern part of it became an independent country in the name of Bangladesh.

Nirmaljit Singh was then stationed at the Srinagar Air Force airport. He was considered a master of his charisma on fighter jets. On 14 December 1971, Srinagar airfield was attacked by six Pakistani Saber jets. Flying Officer Nirmaljit Singh was stationed there with 18 net squadrons while commanding the security contingent.

There was a haze on the airfield

The enemy came with F-86 Saber jets. At that time Flying Lieutenant Ghumman was also present with Nirmaljeet. There was a lot of mist at the airfield in the morning. A warning was received that the enemy is on the attack at 2:00 in the morning. Nirmal Singh and Ghumman immediately indicated to fly away.

In 02 minutes he was in the sky with his plane

At exactly 8:40 pm, both the Air Force officers were in the sky to face the enemy. At that time, the enemy's first F-86 Saber jet was preparing to dive on the airfield. Before the airfield, Ghumman's ship left the runway. As soon as Nirmaljit Singh's net blew after that. A bomb fell just behind them on the runway.

The airfield was filled with smoke and smoke

Ghumman himself was following a Saber jet at that time. Sekhon faced two Saber jets in the air, one of them was the one that dropped the bomb on the airfilt. After the bomb fell, the contact of Combat Air Patrol from the air field was severed by holes and rotations. The entire airfield was filled with smoke and dust, which was the result of that bombing. It was difficult to see far.

The enemy's first saber jet fell into the fire

Then the flight commander squadron leader Pathania saw that two airplanes were ready for an encounter. Then the voice of Nirmaljit Singh was heard from the radio communication system-

'I'm behind two Saber jet ships ... I won't let them go ...'

A few moments later, the sound of invasion from the net echoed in the sky. A Saber jet was seen burning in the fire. Then Nirmaljit Singh Sekhon broadcast his message:

I am on match I am enjoying There are two enemy jets around me. I am following one, the other is walking with me

Then they shot down two more enemy aircraft.

In response, Squadron Leader Pathania gave some security instructions to Sekhon, which he has already completed. Another explosion occurred from the net, with which the sound of the enemy's Saber jet collapsed.
