We always hear that being a Cop is a thankless job, and where we as a public never appreciate the good work done by them, instead we used to always highlight the mistakes and bad works done by them. The cops work is not their job, it is their service for the public. They are paid for this but do they are paid enough for their hard work.

If we peep into the life of any normal police officer, then we get to know about the reality of how hard it is to be a cop. They used to work on 24*7 and 365 days without a single holiday. Is it worth to treat a human being? Do they don’t have any human rights?

Yes, it is true that many police officers are Corrupt, Brutal, and Incompetent, but we and the government are equally responsible for their this behavior. One side, the government is trying to help poor’s by giving them financial aid without any work. Whereas, on the other hand, the government is not trying to increase the salary of police personnel so that he can support his family in a proper way, and the public also is equally responsible who used to fight or kill people on small issues and require police interference to solve it.

A policeman who is continuously standing for 8-12 hours on-duty, is it a humanly act? Do they don’t deserve some rest as a normal person does? A policeman whether he is a Constable, Inspector, or IAS or IPS Officer, he had to be on duty at any time he is called to maintain the security and law & order in the City or State or in the Country.

A policeman works harder than what he is been paid for. So, somehow we are the one who also held liable for the increase in Corruption and in-human activity in the department. As well as, the number of police officers over a lakh of the public is very low. So, the workload is very high over them and which doesn’t allow a single day of holiday especially to the lower level officers. Many times it leads them towards Depression, Hypertension, Anxiety, Stress, Sleeping Disorder, Heart Disease, and many times all these resulted in Suicides.

A Policeman is always blamed for their corrupt activity and lame attitude. Which put them in a frame of incompetent. But I would say, not all officers are incompetent, it’s just the workload and hectic schedule doesn’t allow them to be on time at every place where their presence is important. 

If we talk about corruption and incompetence, then both problem exists in every government department but we only used to talk about Policeman or the Security personnel. Just because their activity has been visible to all, not like as in the other government departments. Many police personnel’s live a lavishing life just by taking the bribe and doing the wrong activity. But nobody thinks about how do they come to be corrupt? It is we, who want their work to be done easily and without any interruption. So we give bribe for smooth flow of work and can save some money by not going with the correct or legal path.

We need to be changed first then expect them to be changed. An educated person needs to follow the procedure instead of opting for the short-cuts. Just follow the rules and avoid corruption, then eventually everything turns up to be on the right track.
