Zoos: Prisons for Beings Who have Never Committed a Crime

Imagine a situation where a human is caged which just about a little big than his or her size and for their whole life, like worse than keeping in a prison, isolated from their friends and families. They were forced to live in an unfriendly environment and were treated merely as entertainment for other or visiting animals, who used to pay money to the caged animals. Just think how horrible it would have been for a human, what his or her mental condition would have been after a while where they were maximally ill-treated every day for the rest of their lives. Just the visualization of this incident gives goose-bump in the whole body, then why don’t we think like this for the animals as well.

Ill-treating and caging the citizens of the forest, who have been used as entertainment of humans and were separated from their families for the rest of their lives. Visiting a zoo always makes you happy but once for a while just think about the condition of these birds and animals, who are on the earth to live freely in the jungle or their habitat. It is nothing just a selfish behavior of humans who cage them for their entertainment and earning money. If we think logically, the concept of Zoo is heartbreaking.

Caging the king of the jungle in a small cage of about 15-20 feet, who used to roam freely in an area of about 15-20 Km. It clearly represents the cruelty against animals. The Crocodile who used to live freely and of about 15-20 feet long, whereas in Zoo they get about 10-15 feet long water area. In addition to this, many other animals and birds who used to live and move freely in a huge jungle they were prisoned into a few feet of cages. These birds and animals bang their head into the cage and scream to reveal their pain and agony. They are also a living being and deserve good behavior from humans.

People use to visit Zoos and for their entertainment and they tease and misbehave with caged animals and even throw stones over them to see the angry reaction of animal, and this makes people happy. People even try to feed animals and tease them to capture the violent reaction of the animals. The Zoo authorities are also not very responsible, the animals didn’t get proper attention from them. They leave animals with a few facilities in such extreme weather. The Summer and Winters are very extreme in North-India, still, the Zoo authorities get least concerned about these animals. Due to which many animals die due to extreme cold and extremely hot weather.

The authorities even claim that they are saving endangered species from extinction by keeping them in the cage and providing a safe environment to live. But the reality is completely opposite to this, they just earn money from that endangered animal by attracting more visitors to the zoo. If we humans, haven’t disturbed the habitat of these animals and didn’t practice hunting in the jungle for entertainment and time-pass purpose then there would have been no need of doing the act of saving the endangered species.

It is only we, who put these animals in this situation and after that representing a humanly act of saving the animals by caging them in the Zoos. And if we are trying to save these animals then, why not to do it sincerely and save these animals with sheer precision and dedication.
