The Adiyogi Chronicles Part One: The Silent Yogi of the Himalayas
Playing text to speech
Around 15,000 years ago, in the remote and serene upper regions of the Himalayas, a mysterious yogi appeared. His origins were shrouded in mystery, and no one knew from where he had come. His presence, however, was so phenomenal and magnetic that people from all around were drawn to him and compelled to gather in his vicinity. They anticipated witnessing some extraordinary act or hearing profound words of wisdom, but the yogi did nothing of the sort. He neither spoke nor moved; he simply sat in deep, unwavering stillness.
Initially, a large crowd formed around him, each person filled with curiosity and expectation. Yet, as time passed and the yogi remained silent and motionless, the crowd began to dwindle. Modern observers might relate to this: if someone sat silently for even a couple of hours, the audience would likely start losing interest. Within a short time, many would leave, opting for more stimulating activities. In the case of this yogi, he sat in complete silence and stillness not just for hours but for months. People had hoped to witness a miracle, but in their eagerness, they overlooked the most fundamental miracle of all—his profound stillness.
In today’s world, our bodies are constantly attended to. We eat at regular intervals, drink when thirsty, and seek comfort whenever we need it. If we were made to sit in one place for just four hours without attending to these needs, discomfort would quickly set in. The body, a complex series of processes, demands regular attention. When ignored, it becomes increasingly troublesome, its needs turning into compulsions. For example, when someone is outside a bathroom door, a minute feels like an eternity if they urgently need to enter.
But this yogi neither ate nor drank. He did not move to attend to any natural calls; he simply sat unmoving. People could not even tell if he was alive, the only sign being the tears of ecstasy that occasionally trickled down his cheeks. Eventually, the crowd was reduced to just seven steadfast individuals. These seven recognized the true miracle in the yogi’s ability to transcend his physical nature, enabling him to maintain his stillness. Today, these seven are revered as the Sapta Rishis, the first disciples of the Adiyogi.
