PM Modi launched the airport project on February 27, 2023, and laid the groundwork for two railway link projects for Rs 1,090 crore.

Jewar Airport, Noida

This international airport in Noida is set to become India's largest. The airport's projected project cost is Rs 29,650 crore. Jewar airport's first phase is scheduled to begin in 2022-23. This airport features six runways and will share the load with the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi.

Purandar Airport, Pune.

This airport will share the traffic load with Lohegaon Airport near Pune. Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje International Airport is located approximately 40 kilometers from Pune. Its anticipated project cost is Rs 6,000 crore, and it is scheduled to begin operations in February 2024.

Orvakal Airport in Kurnool

The Orvakal Airport, formally known as Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy Airport, in Andhra Pradesh, opened in 2019. Its total size is 639 acres. This airport has yet to receive its commercial license. It will benefit the tourist and real estate sectors in Kurnool, Srisailam, and Nandyal.

Mopa Airport, Goa

The first phase of the international airport at Mopa, North Goa, was inaugurated on December 11, 2022. The airport is named after the late Goa Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar. The first phase has the ability to accommodate 44 lakh people annually. Mopa airport will be built in four phases and would cost around Rs 3,000 crores. After the project is completed, the four stages would be capable of handling 1 crore passengers per year.

Sindhudurg Airport, Maharashtra 

It is around 27 kilometers distant from the Mumbai-Goa Expressway. It was opened in March 2019, and the first commercial flight from the new Sindhudurg Airport took off in October 2021.

The success achieved in the development of airports and the aviation sector under the BJP government underscores the importance of visionary leadership, proactive policies, and strategic investments in driving growth and progress. As we appreciate the significant strides made in this sector, it becomes evident that continued support for such initiatives is essential for sustaining momentum and realizing the full potential of India's aviation industry.

Therefore, there is a compelling case to bring back a government committed to development, like the BJP, for the sake of continuity and further advancement in the aviation sector. By re-electing a government with a proven track record of driving infrastructure development and economic growth, India can ensure that the momentum gained in airport development is sustained, and the country continues on its trajectory towards becoming a global aviation hub.

From independence to 2014, the country had just 65 airports developed over 67 years. That means that just one airport was built per year. However, over the last four years, about nine airports have been constructed every year after Narendra Modi took charge over the country. 

Airports help significantly to a country's growth and development. Airports serve as economic hubs, creating jobs in a variety of industries including airlines, cargo, hotel, retail, and ground handling. They also promote international investment and increase tourism, generating cash. 

Airports serve as gateways, linking a country to worldwide markets and promoting trade. This simplifies the import and export of products, encourages corporate collaborations, and boosts foreign direct investment.
