My Opinion on "life of a college student" in India

Playing text to speech

Bollywood movies often show college life as the most exciting time of a person’s life and it is true. But is it entirely true? The answer is NO.

From waking up on your own to forcing yourself to go to bed at 3 AM, from skipping breakfast because you woke up late to surviving a whole day on noodles and two shots of espresso, from bunking classes because you forgot the assignment to coming to attend that one lecture from you favourite professor, college life happens. And in the blink of an eye, it will be over.

I remember being a high school student and desperately waiting to be a college student. Today I am one but every college student reading this will admit that they all wish they could go back to older times. And that’s life. You keep wishing for things and places and moments, and when they are there in front of you, you don’t feel the way you expected to.

Now coming up to the whole point “Life as a college student”, it is not as great as Karan Johar movies showed us but it's not bad either. You just need to learn how to balance. Balance is the key.

You definitely don’t want to be a student who studies 16 hours a day and you don’t want to be the student who doesn’t know the syllabus of their own subject. Right? It's all about setting your goals right and constantly moving toward them while also giving yourself time to refresh and enjoy.

I will share my personal experience which I think will almost be the same as the majority of college students.

The days start with the alarm and then the rush to reach college on time, then lectures, and then breaks. Then classes again and then back to the hostel or flat wherever you live. Then somebody will decide to go to the local market or beach or dhaba and the next moment, you will be in front of it. Evening you will go to your favorite “Chai ki tapri” and you will chitchat about college and life. Then comes night and some people will study or finish their assignment and then at midnight, someone will start blasting breakup songs on speaker, and in 1 minute, everyone will be singing altogether.

Parties, Birthdays, Clubs, Events, Fests, festivals, there is a lot to enjoy. Late-night cravings, tripling on scooty, funny pranks, horror movie night, preparing for an exam one day before, laughing till you start tearing up, making fun of your friends, these all will be the moments you will forever cherish in your life.

Sometimes it will be fun, sometimes you will be sad, and sometimes you will be disappointed but isn't that what life is all about? A mixture of emotions and small moments.

The right group of friends is also one of the most important things in college. You can achieve much more if you have friends who push you forward and not pull you back. Everything will be a lot easier and fun. You will be able to go through everything if you have the people who will always have your back.

Exam season will be the most dreaded season of your college life. The pressure to perform better and sometimes the best, your parents' expectations, your professors' expectations, there is a lot to handle. And there will be a lot of moments when you will think, this is the most difficult situation, but you will always figure it out and you will always come out of it.

And later in life, you will look back and realize how small that problem was, you will laugh sometimes but with every step in college, every day you will learn something. Sometimes about academics, sometimes about life, and sometimes about people.

One thing that I have learned here is that “change is constant”. In the blink of your eye, life will change, situations will change, people will change and you will have to accept it and move forward because that’s what you are supposed to do.

Amidst all this college life, fun, people, love, and everything, do not forget what you came here for. Focus on your goal and balance everything together. Some people study every day but some people do it before exams, it doesn’t matter who is doing what. You need to do what is right for you. You need to make decisions for yourself and you need to stand up for yourself if you don’t like anything that’s happening in your life.

Good Sides and Bad Sides of College

There are both good and bad sides to college. The good part is that you get to meet a lot of new people, you make friends, you study, learn, grow, you visit new places, you try new food, you go on trips, you have control of your life, you can do whatever you want. You feel like you are on cloud nine.

But on the bad side, you make mistakes and of course, you learn from them but you feel hopeless in the moment. Sometimes you face difficult situations, sometimes you lose, you cry, sometimes you feel like it is the end of the world and in those difficult times, there might be no one to tell you what to do. You fail and you fall but eventually, you learn and find you way back.

College life is the collection of those colorful moments that will always be imprinted on your heart no matter where you go. Some good, some bad. But they will be colorful and memorable. So make sure to fill those moments with the right colors before you run out of crayons!
