  • News reports have confirmed that OceanGate Expeditions' Titan submersible has collapsed in the Atlantic Ocean. The submersible set out on an exploration of the sunken Titanic off the coast of Newfoundland on June 18 but lost communication two hours later.
  • A famous Titanic master, a world record-holding globe-trotter, two individuals from perhaps of Pakistan's richest family, and the President of the organization were important for the sumptuous undertaking.
  • A desperate international rescue effort was sparked on Sunday, June 18, by the joint launch of a search operation for the Titan submersible by the US Coast Guard and deep-sea water specialists from Canada, the UK, and France.
  • Experts say that the unprecedented search for the Titan submersible that is missing will easily cost millions of dollars.
  • The search area included the US Coast Guard, the Canadian Coast Guard, the US Navy, and a number of other government and private organizations. It was twice as big as Connecticut and covered thousands of miles in waters 2 1/2 miles (4 kilometers) deep.

The Titanic, a legendary ship that met a tragic fate in 1912, continues to captivate the imaginations of people worldwide. The monumental loss of life and the mystique surrounding the ship have inspired countless explorations and expeditions to uncover the secrets hidden beneath the ocean's depths. One such endeavor was the submersion of the Titanic submarine.

In this view, we delve into the remarkable mission that allowed humans to revisit the haunting remains of the Titanic and shed light on the historical significance of this unprecedented undertaking.

The RMS Titanic, built in the early 20th century, was a British luxury liner renowned for its grandeur and opulence. On its maiden voyage in April 1912, tragedy struck when the ship struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean and sank, resulting in the loss of over 1,500 lives. For decades, the Titanic lay undisturbed on the ocean floor, shrouded in mystery and speculation.

On Monday, teams of search and rescue workers were frantically trying to locate a tourist sub that went missing while it was diving to the Titanic's wreck in the north Atlantic.

The US Coast Guard said that "a small submarine with five people on board" had gone missing near the Titanic wreck. The vessel could stay submerged for 96 hours, the Coast Guard said, but it wasn't clear if it had surfaced and couldn't talk.

The submersible was reported missing on Monday, but the coast guard stated that contact was lost one hour and 45 minutes into its dive on Sunday afternoon.

Onboard the Titanic, a deep-sea diving submersible owned and operated by Oceangate, were believed to be a British explorer, a French military veteran, and a submarine expert.

During a press conference late on Monday afternoon, the US coast guard's first district commander, Rear Admiral John Mauger, stated that "we are doing everything we can do" to locate the sub and its occupants.

The search was "complex" because crews did not know if the vessel had surfaced, requiring them to scour both the surface and the ocean depths of nearly 13,000 feet, according to OceanGate adviser David Concannon. The submersible's 96-hour oxygen supply began around 6 a.m. Sunday. US and Canadian ships and planes swarmed the area approximately 1,450 km east of Cape Cod. Some of the ships and planes dropped sonar buoys that can monitor to Concannon told the AP in an email that officials were working on getting a remotely operated vehicleto the site as soon as possible that could reach a depth of 6,000 meters.

Even though the Titanic's wreck is southeast of the Newfoundland coast, Canadian authorities told the Guardian that the US Coast Guard's Boston fleet is in charge of the search.

Since 2021, OceanGate Expeditions has been conducting expeditions to the wreck, which is located 370 miles off the Newfoundland coast on the ocean floor at a depth of almost 4,000 meters.

On Monday, the following statement appeared on the company website: The submersible's crew members and their families are our sole focus. In our efforts to re-establish contact with the submersible, we are extremely grateful for the extensive assistance we have received from various government agencies and deep sea companies.

Paul Henry Nargeolet, a deep diver, submersible pilot, and former commander of the French navy, is thought to be aboard. He is widely regarded as the leading authority on the wreck site because he is director of underwater research for E/M Group and RMS Titanic, Inc. It is possible that he was in charge of the submersible during the dive, which had four passengers aboard.

Nargeolet has supervised the recovery of 5,000 artifacts from the site of the Titanic, including the "big piece," a 20-ton section of the ship's hull.

Hamish Harding, a well-known aviator and space explorer who is one of the few tourists who have been to space, is a British businessman who was booked on the trip. As "his submarine has gone missing," his stepson, Brian Szasz, shared his "thoughts and prayers" on Facebook before deleting the post.

Saturday, Harding, 58, made the following Instagram post: In 2023, this mission is likely to be the first and only manned mission to the Titanic due to Newfoundland's worst winter in 40 years. We are going to attempt a dive tomorrow because a weather window has just opened. On the trip, he referred to himself as "a mission specialist" in a previous post.

On its maiden voyage in April 1912, the British passenger liner RMS Titanic, which had been advertised as "unsinkable," went down. When it was hit by an iceberg, it was traveling from Britain to the United States. The Titanic became perhaps the most well-known civilian shipwreck of all time because 1,514 of the 2,224 passengers and crew perished in the disaster. In the 1980s, the wreck itself was not discovered.
