In a lengthy political crisis that saw voters split over Netanyahu's suitability to continue while facing a corruption conviction, Israel held its sixth election in four years on Tuesday. The next elections in Israel were previously slated to take place no later than November 11, 2025, in accordance with the four-year term limit imposed by Basic Law: The Government, as no party has been able to establish a stable coalition since 2019.

In Israel's 120-seat Knesset, which is comprised of extreme nationalist and orthodox jews supporters, 64 seats were won by Netanyahu. His coalition's rivals, led by Lapid, gained 51 seats, and a small Arab independent party secured the remaining seats. The far-right Religious Zionism party, whose leading candidate, Itamar Ben-Gvir, is a follower  anti-Arab rabbi, is anticipated to be Netanyahu's key coalition partner.

The divisive After 12 years in office, Netanyahu, Israel's longest-serving leader, was overthrown in 2021 by an ideologically diverse coalition that included a tiny Arab party for the first time in Israeli history. In a slew of scandals involving affluent allies and media moguls, Netanyahu is accused of fraud, breach of trust, and receiving bribes. He denies any wrongdoing and views the prosecution as a witch hunt against him led by a corrupt judicial system and an adversarial media.

Itamar Ben Gvi has consistently denounced attacks carried out by Palestinian terrorists; as a result, he stated in one of his tweets that these perpetrators must be eliminated for the sake of national security. Even though many people see him as a far-right extremist, he believes that these actions are necessary to reclaim his country from invaders. Many Palestinians saw Jews as the enemy, and following riots, Jews there established the Jewish paramilitary Haganah group. Jews have always been the only enemies in history, and Arabs wanted Jews to leave the land, just as they wanted Hindus to leave Pakistan and India's boundaries.

Israel consequently emerged as a military superpower while being surrounded by foes and countless terrorist organisations. This is a major factor in Netanyahu's 12-year tenure as prime minister.
