Leicester, United Kingdome: Clashes between Hindus and Muslim communities ignite the heat in the city after the Pakistan-India Asia Cricket Cup 2022 match. The match was played in Dubai in which India won by 5 wickets with 2 remaining balls.

Such incidents show the enmity, both community has inside their heart for each other’s blood. The streets of the city were filled by the stirred Mob which was highly intent to defame the temples of Hindus and attack their homes. Some temples have deteriorated and Dharma Flags were lowered by the perpetrators.

No questions arise, who are the perpetrators? After considering the Asia Cricket Match 2022 between Pakistan and India. As per the UK Police Officials, the perpetrators belonged to other countries who were residing in the UK.

Over a weekend, almost 18 people were arrested after violence between Hindu and Muslim groups in Leicester. Police told the arrested people are outsiders 8 of those were from Leicestershire, 5 of them from Birmingham, 1 from Solihull, and 1 from Luton.

Over the matter, the mayor of the city, Sir Peter Soulsby said that it can be clearly seen the movement of the people into Leicester with the intention to take part in the clashes.

“It does suggest that there are the people with other battles to fight who is coming to Leicester to fight them. It’s distressing that they choose to do it in our city. We pride ourselves on good relations between communities,” said Soulsby to the news agency.

Adding more he told “I have talked to many people across the communities since this trouble began, and they are utterly baffled by this. It does not present anything that is simmering in Leicester and does seem to have more to do with subcontinental politics.”

The beginning incident started with a peaceful march by the Hindu community but it turned to be a clash when the video of a man who was pulling down a flag outside a Hindu Temple gets circulated on different social media platforms.

Instead of taking strict action, the UK government is urging us to stop circulating the truth behind this incident. They say to not circulate the video of burning Hindu Temple flags.

Related to the video, Mayor Soulsby said that social media platforms are the medium that are exacerbating the tensions and there was “no obvious local cause” for such fights in “an otherwise very peaceful city.”

He added “I have seen quite a selection of the social media stuff which is very distorting now and some of it just completely lying about what had been happening between different communities,” the mayor said.

Opposite the mayor who is intending to have no cause for the clashes, Dharmesh Lakhani, the representative and attached to the Hindu temples across Leicester, confirmed one flag outside the Shivalaya temple in Belgrave Road was removed and others were burned which is unacceptable.

Indicating the incident he said “I am really proud to say on that day, when that flag was removed, there was an Imam outside. He said I am standing outside the temple, making sure nothing happens.”

Defaming any religion and its sentiment is totally condemnable and hence Indian High Commission in London released a notice condemning the act said “We strongly condemn the violence perpetrated against the Indian community in Leicester and vandalisation of premises and symbols of Hindu religion,” mentioned by High Commission of India.

We should unite against these criminals, punish them, show them Indian Capability, and make them feel the consequences of their Jihadi teachings.
