The Ministry of Road and Highway Transport has updated the rules related to the vehicle number plate. New Guidelines have been implemented to eliminate the risk of confusion and misuse of number plates.

Failure to comply with this can lead to heavy fines. These updates have been made after the 1989 amendment. Under the new rules, it will be a crime to drive such a vehicle, in which the number printed on the paper on the number plate will be pasted.

Not only this, according to the vehicles, the Ministry (MoRHT) has fixed the color scheme for number plates in 11 categories. In addition, in the Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989, some other changes have been made in the rules regarding invoicing of vehicles, which have become effective from 1 October. Any other character number plates other than English letters and popular Arabic numbers will be completely prohibited. No regional language will be used on number plates, across the country and on any type of vehicle.

Guidelines have also been given regarding spacing and size etc. on the number plate. According to this, the size, thickness, and spacing will be 65, 10, and 10 mm respectively.

Vehicles whose number plate is written on the paper will be penalized.

Special rules for BS6 vehicles

From October 1, some more regulations have been implemented for such vehicles. For example, there will be a 1 cm green layer on the number plate, whether the vehicle is petrol-driven or diesel or CNG. However, there will be a blue sticker for petrol and CNG vehicles, while orange for diesel vehicles. This guideline has been created to identify the rule-breakers.

All these rules are for four-wheelers, not three and two-wheelers. You can see these rules in detail on the portal of the Ministry. Now let us tell you about some important rules being implemented from 1 October.

Driving modalities of drivers will be monitored and updates will be done continuously on the portal. In view of this, the details of the driving license can be canceled.

According to the new rules, the documents should be physically as well as in electronic form at the time of presenting or return.

It has been said that if the documents are found correct in the electronic inspection, then the investigating officer will not demand them in physical form. But in case of any crime, these documents can be seized.
