Yaghan Language Which Is Only Spoken By This Woman
Playing text to speech
Linguists discovered some time ago that more than 6,900 languages are spoken in the world. Many of these are thousands of years old. According to Ethnologue, a publication that monitors languages around the world, a total of 7097 languages are spoken in different parts of the world.
However, many of these languages are about to cease to exist, and there will be barely a few thousand people who speak them. Yaghan is one such language. This native language of an island in Argentina is now almost gone. Even the only person speaking it is alive, who is a woman.
This language used to be the original language of the tribals of the island called Tierra del Fuego between Argentina and Chile. This language named Yaghan is considered to be similar to Sanskrit. She is now the only elderly woman to speak it. The woman, named Cristina Calderón, is called Abuela by the locals, grandmother in Spanish.
Despite having 14 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, there is no one to talk to Christina in her native language anymore. The reason for this is that her sisters who know the language have died and the rest of the family speak languages like Spanish or English. Although many members understand the language but do not speak it.
Christina has also received many accolades due to saving an entire language alone. For example, in 2009, the Chilean government gave him the title of Living Human Treasure. This title comes under UNESCO, to those people who have played a very big role in saving the culture.
By the way, Yaghan was not only a language but a name of a Banjara community, who passed through South America to Chile and Argentina. The Portuguese first discovered this clan in the year 1520. However, with the passage of time, this community, which was very rich in language and culture, kept on disintegrating.
Now Christina is campaigning to keep the Yaghan language alive with government help. She works to teach this language to young children in Argentine schools. Also every year she also organizes a festival involving the Yaghan clan, in which people from far and wide of Argentina also come. This festival is associated with sea and seafood, which is well liked.
By the way, the Ethinologue states that more than half of the world's population is living with only 23 languages. Talking about the birth of languages, it is believed that humans discovered a way to express themselves about 1 lakh years ago. Although what language it was, there is no proper idea of it.

At present, people who speak Chinese language are the highest in the world. The history of this language is believed to be about 3 thousand years old, which is spoken by 1.2 billion people worldwide, or 16 percent of the world's population.
It is also kept under the first written language and for this reason the name of the Chinese language is also recorded in the Guinness Book. Apart from China, this language is also the language of Taiwan and Singapore. With a little change, Mendereen and Cantonese became the language of the Chinese language.
Now let's talk about the Indian language Sanskrit. The first example of this age-old language is believed to be from Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. Many pieces of evidence of ancient Sanskrit are also found in Gujarat Although Sanskrit is still one of the official languages of India, it has come under the disappearing language, whose native speakers are only 14135 people.
