Most businesses have become sluggish due to Coronavirus. In such a situation, big cities dependent on villages or other cities are trying a new way to supply fruits and vegetables. They are cultivating fruits and green vegetables in large quantities by farming without soil.

The term used for this is hydroponic farming. Hydroponic is a Greek word, which is made up of a combination of two words - hydro i.e. water and ponose. It combines to form a new word, which means without soil.

That is, the technique in which plants can be grown only with the help of water without soil is called hydroponics. In this, the speed of growing plants is 30-50 percent faster than plants with soil. That is, if a tomato vine takes about two months, then in this cultivation it will start to grow in 3 weeks. 

This is considered a kind of revolution, with the help of which vegetables of work can be grown indoors. This is called indoor green revolution. Under this, plants are grown in small plates inside the house. To get complete nutrition for the plant, artificial light is put in the room where the plant is being planted, as well as control of room temperature and humidity is also necessary. 

Without hydroponic or soil farming, this technique has been adopted not for today, but for hundreds of years. According to the Green and Vibrate website, in 600 BC, Hanging Gardens of Babylon were found in Babylon, in which plants were planted without soil. Marco Polo, during his visit to China at the end of 1200 century, saw water farming there, which is the best example of this. 

In the following years, especially after 1950, when the countries were going through turmoil after the Second World War, this technology got a boost. Apart from European countries like France, Spain, Italy, England, Germany, Russia and Israel also promoted hydroponic farming. 

Now let's talk about this technique. There is an easy example for this. If you have ever placed a branch of a plant in a glass filled with water or in a bottle in your house or room, then after a few days, roots come out in it and gradually that plant starts to grow. Often we think that fertilizer, soil, water and sunlight are necessary for growing plants and growing them. But the reality is that only three things - water, nutrients and are needed for crop production.

In this way, if we provide nutrients to the plants and plants without soil in any other way, then they can flourish. This technique is called hydroponics. Under this, plants and fodder crops are grown under controlled conditions at about 80 to 85 percent humidity at 15 to 30 degree Celsius temperature.

From this, plants and vegetables etc. can also be grown in the flat without soil. Wooden sawdust, sand or pebbles are put in water and a special solution is added to provide the necessary nutrients for the plants. This solution is put as a few drops only once or twice a month. 

It has been observed that with this technique, plants grow 20–30% better than plants in soil. The reason for this is that water directly nourishes the plants and they do not have to struggle for it in the soil. At the same time, it does not get damaged due to harvesting of soil. 

Overall, this is a great way to do fast farming in a small area without soil, in which the need for water also reduces with the help of technology. However, in the beginning, it has to be spent on it so that all the equipment can be taken and its training is also necessary.

There is also a difficulty that there should not be a power cut in the place where the plants are being grown, otherwise the plants can get spoiled in a few hours due to lack of water and the temperature is up and down.
