Justice For Women In Army
Playing text to speech
The honorable Supreme Court has given its long-awaited verdict on the permanent commission issue. The Indian Army today has finally been ordered to grant permanent commission to Indian women.
Now this verdict is historical as the stereotype of women being held responsible for daily domestic duties has been rejected directly with a question mark on the patriarchal system of our defense forces.
Our Indian constitution allows equal opportunities for each and every citizen irrespective of caste, creed, race, gender or sex then why females were held back till date from serving the defense forces especially the Indian Army?

The government of India is also highly responsible for this entire unfortunate row to have taken place. It never complimented and followed the previous orders of the High Court and Supreme Court on the same issue and just for propaganda and its jingoistic collaborated ecosystem maintained the idea of women solidarity amongst the erstwhile normal people of India who has huge respect and love for their army.
Apart from this women officers either retired or still serving will get the same benefits as their male counterparts. Short service commission officers who have served for 14 years or less than that will now be granted commission. This is the groundbreaking point of this historic verdict and shows the utmost validity of this verdict.
Women and Men are equal in all terms then it is mental attributes or physical attributes. Indian army had committed a mistake and is now gonna rectify it. For the sake of this motherland let her daughters also serve and protect on Siachen glacier on the west side or Kargil from the northern crown front.
The true sense of equality over gender biases has to be brought up in the court and finally, after this landmark judgment, we will see a new morning of gender equality and new India's army where men and women both are the same.
Whether it is Captain Tanya Shergill or Captain Madhumita, we have convoy commanders serving in the Leh and Udhamnagar areas but why other female officers were being stopped? This is just of the fact which is shown in a note given to the respected court.
The government had talked about numerous problems, which include "physical prowess" and "physiological obstacles", as challenges for women officers to fulfill the exigencies of service in Army which included the combat role.
"Composition of rank and profile record being male, predominantly drawn from rural heritage, with prevailing societal norms, troops aren't yet mentally schooled to just accept WOs (women officials) in charge of devices," said the be note. This just shows the helpless mood and the orthodoxy for a government that calls for the reformation in every sector but is reluctant to directly reform in it's own capacity.
"Inherent physiological differences among women and men prevent identical bodily performance ensuing in lower bodily standards and subsequently the physical capability of WOs (women officials) within the IA continue to be a challenge for command of gadgets," the note stated.
This is what the government had sought to do but after this judgment, we will definitely see a new dawn of rising, hope, justice, and positivity when one day an Indian woman will serve as the chief of the army.
