Sonia Gandhi Interim Congress Chief

Playing text to speech

After the huge propaganda of Rahul Gandhi’s resignation as the Congress Chief, the 77 days long search for the post finally end up over none other than ‘Sonia Gandhi. After day-long deliberations, Congress failed to name a party leader from outside the Gandhi family. Lately, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) had to finally accept Rahul's resignation. He resigned on May 25, and the Congress remained without the head for 77 days.

On August 10 Sonia Gandhi was appointed as Interim President of the Indian National Congress at a crucial meeting of the party's working committee after the committee failed to convince Rahul to continue as the Congress Chief. The ex-Congress chief Sonia has led the party for almost 19 years then she quit the post due to her health reasons. She returned as party president about 20 months after making way for his son Rahul Gandhi in December 2017.

Rahul Gandhi's instinctive morally answerable is evident from his manner in which he took personal responsibility for the disappointing performance of the party during the Lok Sabha elections of 2019, and put forward a new standard of accountability in public life.

Such great propaganda formed by Congress gives a representation that, is it not possible for the Congress Party to survive without the Gandhi family. As well as, the propaganda demonstrates the utter inability of the Congress leadership. The inability to find the Congress Chief demonstrated the absurd level of factional and personal rivalries within the party. One of the most obvious reasons for the CWC’s failure while finding the successor to Rahul is that no other Congress leader can possibly agree over another becoming chief and no dimension can allow another to ‘dominate’.

However, Sonia led the party through its worst crisis until the 1990s. She managed the huge storm at that time and presided over the party when she returned into power for the tenure of a full decade. It might be fascinating for Congress members, therefore, to expect that she might be capable of putting the party back on track one more time. Being an outsider to the pride and prestige of the older Congress, she ensured that the Congress did not shy away from making compromises for purposes of coalition politics.

The Congress Working Committee applauded the courage, commitment, and conviction of Rahul Gandhi from stepping down as the Congress President which was a deeply personal decision. Apart from that, the Congress Working Committee mentioned that each and every Congressman and woman looks for him to continued support and guidance.
