Little Learners – Free Learning Games for Toddlers
Little Learners section · Open on KidsZone
Three- and four-year-olds don't need levels, timers or leaderboards. They need big pictures, a friendly voice, and something that responds when they tap it. Anything more and they lose interest, or worse, get upset.
That's the thinking behind Little Learners, the first section of KidsZone. As you can see in the screenshot, it's just ten large, colourful tiles. No menus to dig through, no small text to read. A child who can't read yet can still choose exactly what they want by looking at the pictures.
Four picture pages to explore
The top row is for exploring. Colours, Animals, Fruits and Vehicles are picture pages: tap anything and its name is spoken aloud. There's no right or wrong here. Your child can tap the same banana ten times and the app will happily say "banana" ten times. Toddlers learn through exactly that kind of repetition.
Six easy games
The second row turns those same topics into gentle games:
- Colour quiz and Animal quiz ask your child to find the right picture.
- Memory starts with just four pairs of cards.
- Puzzle begins with a simple 2 × 2 photo puzzle.
- Tic Tac Toe can be played with a sibling or against Hoot the owl.
- My Photo turns one of your own photos into a puzzle.
How to start
Here's a simple routine that works well with small children. On day one, just explore the picture pages together. Say each word after the voice says it, and make it a little game: "Can you find the elephant? Where's the bus?"
After a few days, when the names feel familiar, try one of the quizzes. Because your child has already met these pictures, they'll get most answers right, and that early success is what makes them want to play again.
Keep sessions short. Ten minutes is plenty at this age. Stop while they're still enjoying it, and they'll ask for it again tomorrow.
One more thing: the footer of every page says it plainly. No ads, no cookies, progress stays on this device. For the youngest users, that matters more than any feature.
What to watch for
At this age, the signs of progress are small but real. Your child starts naming things before the voice does. They point at a bus on the road and say "bus!" with total confidence. They go looking for a particular tile on their own instead of tapping at random. When you see these moments, say so. "You remembered that all by yourself!" is one of the most powerful sentences a parent has.
And if one day your child simply isn't interested, that's fine too. Close the app and try again tomorrow. Little Learners will still be there, and so will the progress they've made.
Little Learners is free, needs no sign-up, and works on any phone, tablet or computer with a browser.
