Panchayat Season 5: Phulera Is Calling You Back Home
Phulera Is Calling
There are some places you have never visited but still miss. For millions of Indians, Phulera is one of them.
It is a small village with a water tank, a dusty road, a panchayat office with a slow ceiling fan, and a Sachiv ji who still cannot decide whether he hates the place or loves it. Most of us arrived there in 2020, stuck at home during the lockdown, looking for something light to watch. We never really left.
Now Panchayat Season 5 is almost here. So pour yourself a cup of chai, find a plastic chair (not a rolling one, Sachiv ji is very possessive about those), and let us go back to Phulera together.
When Will Season 5 Release?
The makers have not announced an exact date yet, but the wait is nearly over. Director Deepak Kumar Mishra has said Season 5 should arrive around October or November 2026, and that the editing work is under way.
Here is what we know so far:

That last line is the best news of all. Phulera is not saying goodbye just yet.
Where Season 4 Left Us
Season 4 ended with Phulera's biggest upset yet: Manju Devi lost the election.
The whole season was one long, noisy, very personal panchayat election. On one side were Manju Devi and her husband, Brij Bhushan Dubey, our beloved Pradhan ji. On the other side was Kranti Devi, backed by her husband Bhushan, the man who complains about everything. When the votes were counted, Kranti Devi became the new Pradhan of Phulera.
For Pradhan ji, who has run the village (officially through his wife, unofficially through his moustache) for years, it was a painful blow.
Meanwhile, Sachiv ji finally cleared his CAT exam. The boy who came to Phulera only to study for an MBA now has his ticket out. But he also has Rinki. And a village that, somewhere along the way, became home. He has a few months to decide.
So Season 4 left us with three big questions:
- How will Pradhan ji and Manju Devi live as ordinary villagers?
- Will Sachiv ji leave Phulera for an MBA?
- What happens to Sachiv ji and Rinki if he does?
What Season 5 Could Bring
Season 5 picks up after the election, and the director's promise is simple: everyone's life in Phulera will move forward. The elections are done, Pradhan ji has lost, and the story follows what comes next for him, for Sachiv ji, and for the whole village.
Here is what fans are waiting to see:
- Pradhan ji without power. Imagine Brij Bhushan Dubey walking past the panchayat office and not going in. Imagine him standing in a queue. It will be funny, and probably a little sad too. Watching a proud man learn to be ordinary could be the heart of this season.
- Kranti Devi in the chair. Running a village is harder than winning one. And with Bhushan as the power behind the throne, Phulera may get a lot more complaints and a lot fewer solutions.
- The MBA question. Sachiv ji has to choose between a corporate career in a big city and the people who now feel like family. Every fan already knows which choice will hurt more.
- Sachiv ji and Rinki. Their slow, shy romance, mostly built on quiet talks on the water tank, may finally face a real test. Love or career? Phulera or the city?
- Prahlad, Vikas and the gang. Whatever happens to the panchayat, the people around that office will be at the centre of every laugh and every tear.
One thing is certain: the makers have said this is not the last season. So whatever Sachiv ji decides, the story of Phulera will go on.
The People of Phulera Are Back
Almost the entire cast is expected to return, which is good news, because in Phulera every face matters.

Old Stories from Phulera: The Moments We Still Talk About
Before Season 5 arrives, let us walk down memory lane. These are the scenes that made us laugh until our stomachs hurt, and the ones that left us staring at the ceiling at 2 a.m.
The Great Chair War
In Season 1, Sachiv ji brought a rolling chair to the panchayat office. It was his small piece of city comfort in a village of plastic stools. Then came a wedding, and an angry groom who felt insulted because he could not have that chair. Suddenly a whole marriage seemed at risk over a piece of furniture. Only in Phulera can a chair become a matter of family honour, and only Panchayat could make it so believable.
The Haunted Tree
The village was convinced a certain tree was haunted. Nobody would go near it at night. Sachiv ji, the educated engineer from the city, decided to prove them all wrong. Watching him walk out bravely and then flinch at every rustle in the dark was pure comedy. It was also a gentle lesson: superstition is not defeated by lectures, but by someone willing to walk into the dark first.
The Wall Slogans
When the government wanted family-planning slogans painted on village walls, Sachiv ji and the team learned that wording matters. One badly chosen line offended half of Phulera. Rewriting a single slogan turned into a full-blown diplomatic mission. Anyone who has ever worked in an office where one email caused chaos will understand.
"Dekh Raha Hai Binod"
Bhushan, the village's full-time complainer, would turn to his friend Binod and point out every waste of panchayat money, every failure, every scandal (real or imagined). The line "Dekh raha hai Binod" escaped the show and took over the Indian internet. It became the meme for every family WhatsApp group, every office gossip session and every uncle who reads the newspaper aloud.
The Water Tank Meeting
At the end of Season 1, Sachiv ji climbed the water tank and found Rinki already there. No dramatic music, no film-style romance. Just two awkward people, a view of fields, and a conversation that went nowhere and everywhere at once. It was the most Indian love story ever told: shy, slow and full of things left unsaid.
Prahlad's Loss
Then there is the moment that broke every heart. At the end of Season 2, Prahlad, the cheerful Up-Pradhan who always had a joke ready, learned that his son, a young soldier, had been killed in the line of duty. The village that had laughed with us for two seasons fell silent. Faisal Malik's quiet grief, a father who suddenly had nobody to live for, is one of the finest pieces of acting on Indian OTT. Many viewers still say they could not watch the next episode for days.
The Gunshot
Season 3 ended with a shock nobody expected from such a gentle show: Pradhan ji was shot. The comedy of village politics suddenly turned real. It reminded us that in many real Indian villages, a panchayat election is not a joke. It is a fight for power, and sometimes it turns dangerous.
Why Panchayat Feels Like Home
Panchayat has no superheroes, no gangsters and no car chases. Its biggest battles are over a chair, a road or a solar light. So why do we love it so much?
Because Phulera is real. Anyone who grew up in a small town, or still has a nani or dada in one, recognises it instantly. The uncle who knows everyone's business. The office where nothing moves without a cup of tea. The neighbour who treats every government scheme as a personal insult.
Because Sachiv ji is all of us. He is the young Indian stuck between ambition and belonging. He wants to leave, to crack the exam, to build a big career. But slowly, without noticing, he starts caring about people he once found annoying. Every person who left home for a city job and still feels a pull back will see themselves in him.
Because it laughs and cries honestly. One episode makes you laugh at a fight over a wall slogan. The next reminds you that a soldier's father in a small village carries a grief the rest of the country never sees. The show never forces either emotion. It simply lets life happen.
Because it is kind. In an age of loud, angry content, Panchayat is gentle. Its characters argue, sulk and make mistakes, but they show up for each other. Watching it feels like a long evening on a charpai under the stars.
Conclusion: Pack Your Bags for Phulera
When the show began in 2020, Abhishek Tripathi arrived in Phulera counting the days until he could leave. Today, he has the exam result he wanted and a reason to stay that he never planned for. Pradhan ji has lost his chair. Rinki is waiting. Prahlad is still healing. And Bhushan is, no doubt, already complaining to Binod about the new government.
Season 5 is expected on Prime Video around October or November 2026. Until the official date arrives, there is only one thing to do: rewatch the first four seasons, laugh at the chair war again, cry with Prahlad again, and get ready.
Because whatever Sachiv ji decides, one thing is clear. You can leave Phulera, but Phulera never really leaves you.
