Nana Patekar, the legendary Indian actor and filmmaker renowned for his fiery performances and iconic dialogue delivery, passed away at the age of 75 on October 8, 2026. He suffered a severe cardiac arrest at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa, and was rushed to Manipal Hospital. Despite receiving CPR for nearly 45 minutes, doctors were unable to revive him, and he was pronounced dead at 5:20 AM.

His last rites are scheduled to be performed with state honours at his farmhouse in Pune. Tributes have poured in from across the nation, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the condolences, remembering him as a versatile and fearlessly outspoken performer who left an indelible void in the artistic world.

Nana Patekar's early life was marked by financial challenges, forcing him to work at a young age painting movie posters. After studying at the Sir J. J. Institute of Applied Art, he entered acting through theatre and made his Hindi debut in Gaman (1978). 

He established himself as an intense powerhouse in parallel and commercial cinema, famously becoming the only actor to win Filmfare awards in the Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Villain categories.
