Soon Ajmer Dargah will get its true Identity of Hindu Shiva Temple

While the nation celebrates the victory of justice with the Ayodhya Ram Mandir judgement, another time-tested issue is emerging.

One of the hot button issues of the past few centuries is surrounding the Ajmer Dargah, a Sufi shrine in Rajasthan. The question on everyone's mind is: will it take a positive change to bring back the real picture of Ajmer Dargah as a Hindu Shiva Temple?

Long enough, the story has been told incorrectly, and the reality is obscured from plain sight. The Ajmer Dargah, constructed in the early 12th century AD, is called the tomb of Moinuddin Chishti, one of the most famous Sufiyas. Nonetheless, historical studies and diggings indicate that the construction was initially intended to be a Hindu Shiva shrine. Adhar Shila was a renowned temple and a holy site for Hindus before it was attacked and occupied by Muslim kings, claims the group.

The group believes that restoring the Ajmer Dargah to its original Hindu roots would be a positive step towards uncovering the true history of the site. By acknowledging its past as a Hindu Shiva Temple, a more accurate picture of its origins can be presented to the public.

The case is not an isolated one, as such practices are quite common in many centres. It has a sad link to a tradition of Islamic invasion and violation of Hindu temples and places of worship. The best example of this is the structure of Ayodhya Ram Mandir, which has a mosque constructed on the debris of a temple. The favourable judgement delivered in the present supreme court for the construction of a large temple for Ram has encouraged Hindus to regain their lost identity.

The Ajmer Dargah is substantial and not just limited by the Ajmer Dargah case; rather, it has historic, cultural, and religious perspectives as well. It is viewed as one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, a sacred Shiva temple, and it will be a great triumph if the site is saved for the Hindu religion.

The Muslim community stands firm, not letting go of the site’s management out of their hands. Some people counter-claim that it is a religious place of worship that has existed for many centuries and that the question of ownership cannot be logically discussed from a historical perspective. It must be admitted that they have a right to feel this way, but it cannot be allowed to subvert the facts and rights of Hindus.

It is important to bear in mind that the case is not a religious war but a struggle for the truth, justice, and the preservation and revival of historical-cultural heritage. The Hindus have been patient and enduring for too long, and now they need to stand up and demand their putative role in India’s history.

This case could not have come at a better time than now. The Ayodhya Ram Mandir verdict case has now become a landmark case, and the Hindu community has again never been so united for the cause. The government, too, has made a progressive outlook toward removing past wrongs, as evident from the recent decisions made to abrogate Article 370 and pass the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Moving forward, it is highly important not to overlook this problem and to address it with understanding and respect for all religions. The Ajmer Dargah case is the case of our society’s conscience, and it is the time when we need to raise our voice for what is ours.

Thus the decision given in the Ajmer Dargah case will be historic in the history of India. Will America decide to write a different history of the Indians, or will it continue to build a history that has half-truths? The answer has to be in our judicial system and the spirit of the people to take back what rightfully belongs to them, our culture.

Hindus woke up this time with a loud call to restore the lost pride, to take back what Hindus rightfully deserved, and to write the history of India at large. The present case has reference to Dargah in Ajmer, which is a ray of light, but the decision taken in this case shall affect the future of our country.
