The case is not an isolated one, as such practices are quite common in many centres. It has a sad link to a tradition of Islamic invasion and violation of Hindu temples and places of worship. The best example of this is the structure of Ayodhya Ram Mandir, which has a mosque constructed on the debris of a temple. The favourable judgement delivered in the present supreme court for the construction of a large temple for Ram has encouraged Hindus to regain their lost identity.

It must be admitted that they have a right to feel this way, but it cannot be allowed to subvert the facts and rights of Hindus.

It is important to bear in mind that the case is not a religious war but a struggle for the truth, justice, and the preservation and revival of historical-cultural heritage. The Hindus have been patient and enduring for too long, and now they need to stand up and demand their putative role in India’s history.

This case could not have come at a better time than now. The Ayodhya Ram Mandir verdict case has now become a landmark case, and the Hindu community has again never been so united for the cause. The government, too, has made a progressive outlook toward removing past wrongs, as evident from the recent decisions made to abrogate Article 370 and pass the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Moving forward, it is highly important not to overlook this problem and to address it with understanding and respect for all religions. The Ajmer Dargah case is the case of our society’s conscience, and it is the time when we need to raise our voice for what is ours.

Will America decide to write a different history of the Indians, or will it continue to build a history that has half-truths?
