Scams of Aam Aadmi Party Destroyed the Development of India, How?
Playing text to speech
Do you really think that the so called "Aam Aadmi Party" is doing justice for the "Aam Aadmi" in India nowadays?
The AAP was formed as a result of the India Against Corruption, which claimed to be a party formed for the people of the nation. It came to power in Delhi for the betterment of health care, education, and governance. However, as the party aged, it started getting involved in controversies that, in most cases, have left a bad image of the initial achievements. While AAP’s campaign against corruption initially received massive support, multiple scandals and allegations have emerged to put into question the role of the party in India’s development path. From advertisements they released in 2012, which turned out to be a scam, to the most recent liquor scam, AAP has been in quite the controversies for the wrong reasons. Further, a number of proposed developments for the improvement of public amenities such as housing, transport, and sanitation have been delayed due to the recent controversies. This stagnation affects the quality of life of millions of people as well as the economic development. While AAP has spent a great deal of money in the health and education sectors, there has been criticism of the party, stating that they have not been honest about the effectiveness and magnitude of their activities in these sectors.
Also The AAP party formulated a new alcohol policy in 2022 with the aim of mobilising more resources for the state. However, when concerns over favouritism and corruption in the licensing process were raised, this theory was somehow criticized. Subsequent to such claims that the policy, otherwise known as public procurement policy, favoured certain commercial organisations, the case attracted the attention of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). In addition to the issues of moral governance, the implications of this scandal were to be on people’s trust and the formation of state revenue income.
What the Aam Aadmi Party has done in recent weeks raises questions about their genuine interest in development in India. The party is fixated more on its own self and its political placement than it is on fixing the issues that everyday citizens struggle with, as observed by the persistent controversies regarding the liquor policy and the advertisement. This shift of goals raises a risk of hindering social reforms and other critical infrastructures without which progression cannot be made, not forgetting the erosion of public trust. Should AAP continue in this path of putting questionable governance in a place of importance over transformative growth, they are likely to nullify the changes they sought to in effect, jeopardising the future of millions of Indians who rely on strong leaders and transparent government.
