How Bollywood destroyed our culture
Playing text to speech
Bollywood is a huge movie industry of India and is the power that redefined the culture of every Indian. It fulfills a multifaceted role regarding its influences on Indian fashion way, wedding norms, and even thinking of people. Though Bollywood movies have been so much appreciated for popularizing Indian culture in the world, at the same time it has damaged the nation’s old customs and ethical values.
In this blog, we will discuss how Bollywood movies and industry are having the worst impact on Indian culture, especially for the youth.
The abuse and bad habits
|
Along with all the good things that Bollywood brings into our lives like inspiration and entertainment there are some dark sides of this craft which are even darker than they appear to be. The spreading of a culture of abusive language and bad habits like smoking and drinking etc. is one of the top concerns of Bollywood. In a lot of films, characters are shown using bad words, fighting, and generally being into drugs, those acts being presented as cool or rebellious.
Faking a Living
Sometimes, Bollywood picks out a glamorous depiction of real life and the characters of movies have fancy mansions, are dressed in designer clothes, and ride luxury cars. This visualization, thus, becomes a basis for the maturing youth to compare and wish to follow the trends given. Therefore, the youth fall under the pressure of meeting these standards. People of all age groups are falling deep into a disorder where they become very obsessed with branded things like the latest smartphones and accessories of the best brands.
The Fascination or Focus on Romance
||
Being a commonly reoccurring theme in Indian movies, romantic relationships are depicted as the most important things in life. The youngsters make extreme love and lust the central theme of their lives, where education and personal development become irrelevant for the young.
Thus, it leads to severe emotional distress, respectively, and sometimes suicide happens to the youths if their expectations become unsatisfied. The depiction of love in Bollywood usually has no depth and realness; the movies don't teach the youth about the difficulties and complexity of real-life partnerships.
The Lack of Appreciation for Traditional Values
Bollywood is indeed the platform that leads to the wipe-out of traditional values and customs. The portrayal of modern, westernized lifestyles by the films makes them seem to be the superior ones, with not much attention being paid to India’s rich culture. The traditional attire and the customs that include sarees in it are frequently offset by the Western ones and they are made to appear old-fashioned or without any purpose.
This is how Indian traditions, that were respected in the old days, now lose to Western habits, which are often seen as superior by young people. The age-old cultural identity that has withstood the test of time is gradually losing its authenticity as the youth try to adopt the lifestyles portrayed in Bollywood films.
The Impact on Fashion
The Bollywood industry as far as fashion is concerned has a notable effect on the trends followed in India. The extravagant display of characters in movies becomes the indicator of trendy clothes. On the other hand, such a tendency leads to the improvement of sales for traditional Indian accessories like Saree and lehenga, which is however likely to be associated with the culture of fast fashion.
People are prone to follow every trend in how a celebrity has presented, without thinking of sustainability and quality that might be involved in the choice of the dress. Consequently, the market is flooded with bargain clothing, which is a result of the broader distribution of the low price, handmade dresses. The memorable part of the Indian handicraft industry is being overtaken by the wants of people preferring garments that are not durable but trendy.
Promoting Unrealistic Beauty Standards
|
Nowadays, Bollywood movies usually put in front of their viewers actors and actresses who follow fastidious beauty norms, thus, limiting only one unrealistic definition of beauty. To the extent a girl/or boy is not able to measure up to those standards the child may be left with no choice but to develop low self-esteem. The idea of flawless skin, a thin figure, and a perfect feature is ever present in Bollywood, and the subsequent body shaming culture and to a large extent compromised self-esteem.
Conclusion
Drafting a Bollywood, without a doubt, plays a major part in shaping the culture of India, though its effect is not always positive. The glamorization of abuse, the portrayal of fake and unreal life, obsession over finding true love, and the perception of being successful are just some of how Bollywood has led to the distortion of Indian culture. In particular, the new generation must think them over and have the purpose of saving the cultural heritage of India, which is a pearl while using Bollywood for entertainment contentedly.
