Why is Healthcare so Expensive in the United States?

Playing text to speech

Back in the day, when any of the family members got admitted, the family worried about bankruptcy. All the higher-income countries on the other hand provide complete healthcare insurance to all their citizens. Maybe there's a reason behind all such facilities.

Well coming directly to the topic, according to a report by Centres for Medicare and Medicaid Services(CMS) in 2015 America spent $3.2 trillion on healthcare about 17.8% of the country's GDP and by 2025 the numbers are supposed to increase up to 20.1% of GDP. Many such reports show the insanely growing status of American expenditure on medicine.

Let's not go much into the statistics rather ask a question about How than Why. Actually, modern equipment and technological advancements are making medicinal systems costly all over the planet. Good hospitals and qualified doctors are growing more and more unaffordable for the needy. Rather than focusing on the reasons let's talk about the facts.

American healthcare is suffering from many problems like lacking control of small diseases like high obesity rates, lots of suicides, drug addictions, lack of insurance(due to high cost), unaffordable hospitals, high-priced doctors, etc. All of these and many inefficiencies make the US the most expensive nation in the context of healthcare to stay in.

Common news articles read and seen daily tell about the broke medical system of the USA during COVID-19. Many citizens accepted that US rations care was unable to help the needy who couldn't pay, many health care services provided are not even necessary, also the US was less prepared to cope with public health stress demands, maternal mortality rates increasing, US mental health care patients not treated right, also in comparison to other advance countries the US has a lower life expectancy. Owing to all such fats US faced 25% of COVID cases in the world with just 4% of the world's population.

Considering the facts I can conclude that the healthcare amenities provided by the US government have been more than enough but not accessible to everyone which is a serious threat in dire need of procuring treatment.
