How to Prevent Hearing Loss?
Reducing hearing loss
Over time, you can adapt to loud noises, but your brain and ears
don't. You may lose your hearing gradually and not notice
it until the damage is irreversible. Here are some hearing tips that can help
protect your hearing now.
1. Use headphones
Special shapes or ear tires are economic and easy to
use to make noise. Working at a consistent level during the day can be worn to reduce hearing loss. If you
do not leave the position, interfere with yourself.
2. Reduce the volume
If you want your TV, radio, or streaming device to scream, turn it
off. Please do not use this item to mute other
background sounds. If you're listening through headphones and the person next to you can hear it,
it might be too loud.
3. Follow the 60:60 rule
Listen to music at 60% or less of maximum volume for less than 60 minutes
per day. Many streaming devices that use Bluetooth have a smart volume feature that
lets you control the volume.
4. Buy noise-canceling headphones
Noise-canceling headphones block out background noise so you can hear your music, movies, and phone calls better. This allows you to use
the bottom volume and rest in your ears.
5. Use of hearing protectors at
live events
Earplugs and hats can reduce noise levels
by 15 to 35 decibels. Many events sell locally if there is no event or if you
are away from home. When you get there, stay away from speakers or
fireworks. Sudden noise can quickly damage it.
6. Wear hearing protection at
work
A noisy work environment can negatively affect your hearing and overall
health. Speak to someone in Human Resources. Ask if
you can turn down the noise. Otherwise, ask for hearing
protection.
7. Don't put anything in
your ears
In general, don't put anything smaller than your elbow in your ear.
These include cotton swabs, paper clips, needles, keys, or anything you
can use to scratch or clean your ears.
8. Dial the sound back into the
car
Listening to loud music in a closed space increases the risk of damage to the hair cells in the
ear. If the window is closed, turn down the volume. It's nice to feel the wind in your hair
while driving with the windows down, but the noise it
creates can contribute to hearing loss. If you are driving at high speed,
it is a good idea to keep the windows open.
9. Keep moving
When you exercise, blood flows through your body, including your ears.
Good circulation
helps maintain oxygen levels and keep the inner ear healthy. If you
go to a training session, give your ears a rest after the session.
10. Avoid using earplugs
Although less noticeable than traditional headphones, the headphones do not effectively block out background
noise. This may tempt you to turn up the volume, which can damage your hearing.
Inserting too much or too long can hurt the ear.
