Today is the death anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the first of the 10 Gurus who established Sikhism. He left his life in Kartarpur on 22 September 1539. Kartarpur is now in Pakistan where thousands of millions of Sikh devotees go to pay obeisance at the Gurdwara Darbar Granth Sahib.
In view of this, the governments of India and Pakistan talked to each other and put the Kartarpur corridor to work. Guru Nanak Dev Tajingi kept talking about love, equality, brotherhood. 10 things related to Guru Nanak -
Guru Nanak Dev's father's name was Mehta Kalu and his mother's name was Tripta Devi. Nanak Dev Ji's sister's name was Nanaki. After the birth of Nanak ji, Talwandi was named Nankana. Currently, this place is in Pakistan. Guru Nanak was born in a Hindu home, but he always believed that he is neither Hindu nor Muslim.
When Nanak grew up, he was sent to school to study. His innate intelligence was very sharp. They would sometimes ask bizarre questions to their teachers, which their teachers do not even have answers to.
For example, one day the teacher asked Nanak to write a letter on the floor. Nanak then wrote a but asked the teacher, Guruji! What does A mean? Hearing this, Guruji got confused.
Guru Nanak used to be indifferent to worldly subjects since childhood. After that, he started spending all his time in spiritual contemplation and Satsang. During the childhood of Guru Nanak, many miraculous incidents happened in which people of the village started seeing him as having a divine personality.
Sadness (Viren Yatra) lasted till 1515 AD in 1507 AD. Guru Nanak was married to Sulakhani, daughter of Moolraj resident of Batala, married Nanak. Two sons of Nanak were born to Sulkhani. One was named Shrichand and the other was named Laxmidas. Guru Nanak's son Srichand established the Udasi Religion.
Guru Nanak Ji started the struggle against conservatism from his childhood. He came to many pilgrimage centers to tell the evangelists about their shortcomings and urged people to stay away from bigotry.
Guru Nanak used to take long journeys in his life. He went to Mecca. Apart from this, he traveled to places like Kashmir, Tibet, Bengal, Manipur, Rome etc. In this, his Muslim colleague brother Mardana used to accompany him.

Guru Nanak Dev gave the slogan of Ek Onkar i.e. God is one. It is present everywhere. He is the "Father" of all of us, so we should live lovingly with everyone.
Guru Nanak used to be immersed in his thoughts. Then his father engaged him in business. A small shop was opened for them in the village. One day, father gave him 20 rupees and asked him to get a good deal from the market. Nanak gave food to some hungry sadhus found on the way with those rupees and came and told the father that he had got a good deal.
Guru Nanak Ji said that God dwells in the heart of man, if there are disorders of cruelty, hatred, condemnation, anger etc. in the heart, then such filthy cannot be ready to sit in the heart of God. Guru Nanak Dev Ji had said that one should never take away anyone's rights, but should also help the needy from the hard work and earnest money.
Guru Nanak settled in Kartarpur in the last phase of life. He gave up his body on 22 September 1539. Before his death, he declared his disciple brother Lahna as his successor, who later became known as Guru Angad Dev.
