What is the Feluda Covid-19 test after all? 

Feluda is a short form of the FNCAS9 Editor Linked Uniform Detection Assay. According to the Indian Ministry of Science and Technology, Feluda is the world's first diagnostic test that uses the Cas9 protein to identify the virus. It is based on indigenous CRISPI gene-editing technology.

This testing process takes less time as compared to the RRT-PCR test. The device used in it is very cheap. According to CSIR, the Feluda test has been 96% sensitive and 98% specific in identifying novel coronavirus. This Covid test kit has been developed by Dr. Debjyoti Chakraborty and Sauvik Maitri, scientists of IGIB. 

The Feluda test developed for the Covid-19 test is similar to the pregnancy strip test. This strip can also be used easily in path labs. According to Dr. Debojyoti Chakraborty, who produced it, Cas9 protein has been barcoded so that it can detect coronavirus sequence in the patient's genetic material.

According to Chakraborty, the Cas9-SARS-CoV2 complex is subsequently poured onto a paper strip. There are two lines on this strip that tell whether Kovid-19 is there or not. If the patient is Kovid positive then the color will change. 

The Feluda-CRISPR test takes place in a much shorter time than the RRT-PCR test. The Feluda test does not require any kind of machinery to know the real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain report.

According to doctors, there is no need for a team of people to do this test. The accuracy level of the Tata CRISPR probe is the same as the conventional RT-PCR test, but it results in a shorter time, lower cost, and is easier to use.
