The funeral of former President Pranab Mukherjee took place at Lodhi Road crematorium in Delhi with Corona Protocol. He was found corona infected before his death.

On being hospitalized for brain surgery, Pranab Mukherjee was confirmed to be corona infected. Due to this infection, he got a septic shock and during this time the former president died in the hospital due to a heart attack.

For this reason, his body was taken straight from the hospital to the crematorium on Lodhi Road.

At the same time, his picture has been kept at his residence 10, Rajaji Marg, while all the leaders are going to see him last. Had there not been a case of the corona, his body would have been taken in a gun carriage instead of a dead vehicle. 

Under State Funeral, a 7-day state mourning has been announced in honor of the former President, which has already started from 31 August.

During this time, in any buildings in which there is a tradition of hoisting the national flag regularly, the flag will be kept half tilted. Apart from this, there will be no government festival of any kind anywhere. 

Funeral with national honor, ie State Funeral has different rules and regulations. Many things come under this, such as giving a gun salute during the last rites, declaring state mourning and half of the national flag being bowed.

The body of the dead person is wrapped in the national flag and kept for a final darshan. At present state funeral in our country is given to former President and President, Prime Minister, Union leaders and Chief Ministers. 

Apart from this, the state government can also make a decision that it should give state honors on the demise of an eminent citizen like an artist, scientist, or social worker of his area. However, approval is also required from the cabinet for this. If seen in this way, the former president was given a final farewell with the same respect, following the Corona protocol, as given under the State Funeral. 

Along with the central government, the largely affected states have issued guidelines regarding the last rites of the dead bodies of those who died due to Covid 19. Under this, some rules are also different in the states.

Like in Maharashtra, in case of any death, the coronation of the dead body will be done and after the report comes, the dead body will be handed over to his family members. On arrival of the positive report, the last rites will be conducted under the supervision of the concerned bodies. 

According to the guideline, if someone dies due to Covid-19 infection, then his family and friends can have a last visit to the deceased but cannot go to him in any way. That is, touching, kissing, or hugging the dead body is absolutely forbidden. 

Apart from this, many customs cannot be followed. For example, in many religions, the deceased is bathed and smeared on his body, decorated and decorated with new clothes. It is strictly forbidden.

Even autopsy of the dead body will not be done for any investigation, because during this time there is a risk of the virus getting caught. But if an autopsy is absolutely necessary, health workers will perform autopsy only after adopting all measures to prevent infection.

It is also clear in the guideline that a large number of people cannot gather during the last rites. With the accumulation of more people, the rules of social distancing can be broken and the people coming may also get infected in some way. 

The Health Ministry in India has said that body bags can be opened only once for the last sighting of the deceased of Corona and only medical staff and not family members can do this work.

During this time, rules like religious rituals like reading a religious book or sprinkling Ganga water on the body are allowed because they do not require touching the body.
