It's What You Don't Say Counts

Playing text to speech

There is a saying which we know 'Actions speaks louder than words'

But, how many of us actually agree.... ??? OR,

How many have actually tested the statement through it literal meaning.... ??

Consciously or unconsciously, we use different forms of gestures apart from our words while communicating with others.

Some tends to focus it, some ignore while some don't even know about it.

But, it is said that two-thirds of the effectively communicated information are non verbal.

So...what does it actually mean.???

Does our words don't have any value...??? Or Are they unable to communicate the message properly..???

The answer is definitely ... NO

Verbal communication do let us deliver our ideas, thoughts and information to the receiver. But it is through non verbal communication, the receiver understands the message properly knowing our emotions and perspective behind those thoughts and information. And the sender is able to discreet that the information is conceived by the receiver in the ways he intends to convey.

As it is rightly said, that is not only our words that speak.

There are thousands other non verbal cues and behavior to communicate such as eye gaze, facial expressions, gestures, tone of voice, body postures, etc.

From our head to toe, from handshake to hairstyle, every minute thing which we can see and observe in a person help to know more about them and the actual meaning behind there statements.

Non verbal communication has evolved over the period and has developed to a stage where is studied to even examine and analyse famous personalities, crime investigations, interviews and other places as well.

People can easily manipulate their words, but tend to forget about controlling their body postures. Some of the famous stances we all have heard and seen.

1. Many of the people when lie, they are unable to make eye contact. Even if they make eye contact there hand gestures, facial expression and body postures reveal it all.

2. We can easily grasp the emotions of person through there facial expressions such as happy, sad, angry, agony, etc. Whereas those expert in this field can even reveal their actual mental emotions through their face.

3. The modulation in voice over conversation also tends to make the observer understand and interpret the sentence and the emotions the words can carry, which otherwise would not be so easy to interpret, by many if it is only in written form.

4. People may vigorously nod their head in confirmation to  YES , and shake their head in denial.

Non verbal communication plays a significant and important role in our lives. It can improve a person’s ability to relate, engage, and establish meaningful interactions in everyday life. A better understanding of this type of communication may lead people to develop stronger relationships with others.

Yet different countries have different meaning to same body and hand gestures. Even the personal space being one of the non verbal cue has different concepts in different countries. So understanding the person and his statements are not solely based on the verbal communication but also the non verbal one keeping in mind the place from which the person may belong.
