India-China LAC Tension : Why Is The Tussle Heating Up ?
Playing text to speech
The heat on the Line of Actual Control, LAC, is intensifying. Cases of confrontation between the troops of India and China are increasing. Especially since 2015, such incidents have been very high. Efforts to remove these trenches had no effect yet. Since neither side is ready to bow down, there is a danger of this crisis escalating.
According to the Indian Ministry of Defense, there has been a huge increase in cases of Chinese encroachment. There were 130 cases of Chinese encroachment in Ladakh only in April. After China's objection to India's road construction in the Galvan River region of eastern Ladakh, its military forces are not deterred from showing audacity, even though the area falls entirely within the Indian periphery. The Chinese Foreign Minister has also warned India about road construction in the words that the Chinese security forces are committed to maintaining peace and stability on the Sino-India border, but to give a befitting reply for the sovereignty and security of their homeland. Ready too.
Actually, the demarcation of Indo-China border is not clear and due to this, there is a lot of controversy over LAC. This often makes the soldiers of the two countries reach each other's areas in grief. As a result, there has been local instability in the region for decades.
In recent years, border conflicts have become very common. However, these conflicts usually take place at the local level, which are also settled by the local commanders. In this, the 73-day-long confrontation between the two countries in Doklam on the Sikkim-Bhutan border during 2017 certainly caused a lot of tension. Since then, Indian policy makers have become more concerned about China that it cannot be taken lightly.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also made direct efforts with the Chinese President to find a solution to this problem. In this connection, the first informal meeting of the two leaders was held in Wuhan, China in April 2018. At that time, the initiative to increase dialogue between the armies in the two countries was agreed so that the situation on the border could be handled better by mutual understanding and coordination. Although it brought immediate relief to bilateral relations, there was no end to the boundary dispute.
There are several reasons for such conflicts at the border. One is their different perception about the boundary. The more important aspect is that India has accelerated the work of infrastructure towards its border. For this reason, Chinese soldiers are facing Indian soldiers even in places where they were not used to seeing them before. Indian Army patrols have also been more effective than in the past. It has also enraged the Chinese military.
In fact, in the early phase of the Kovid-19 epidemic arising out of Corona, eyes are being raised around the world due to China's suspicious attitude. In such a situation China wants to give a message to the world through its muscle power on the borders. New Delhi's attitude in this must have been particularly irritating to her, who not only raised her voice in favor of an independent investigation into the Corona case, but also advocated for maintaining Taiwan as an analyst at the World Health Organization. On this, it is natural for the CPC to be red-yellow, which in a way it has also expressed on the border.
On the other hand, America also seems to be mobilizing against China. The outgoing US Chief Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Alice Wells, says that there is a particular pattern in China's actions. They say that whether there is a South China Sea where we have conducted some joint operations with India or the site of India or the Indian Ocean border, China needs to be responded to everywhere.
At the same time, a report has been submitted to the US Congress under the title 'American strategy for China'. It mentions that China violates promises made to its neighbors by strategically entangling them along the border. It mentions areas like the Yellow Sea, South and East China Sea, Taiwan Strait and Indo-China border where China is showing such aggression.
As far as New Delhi is concerned, it is no longer just a matter for him to assess India-China bilateral relations, but also by adding China’s role as a global power in its multiplication. Will have to see. The current confrontation may be over temporarily, but whenever the CPC realizes the need to instill patriotism in its politics, it will again offer such a hand. In such a situation, India has no choice but to increase its capabilities against China by strengthening itself internally and connecting strong foreign partners with itself.
