Callout From 16 December, 2012 : Do We Remember Damini ?

Playing text to speech

16 December. 2012 is will always remain one of the "rarest of the rare" rape cases in the history of 21st-century Indian society. Damini AKA Nirbhaya was waiting for a bus at midnight with his male friend.

She boarded the only bus and that proved to be her only fault. She was brutally beaten, gang-raped, mutilated and even strangulated to death. Her private parts were damaged by an iron rod.

She fought the battle with death tirelessly but eventually, her wounds were too hurtful on her soul. She died with her last wordings be- "My culprits shall be prosecuted anyhow".

Callout From 16 December 2012 Do We Remember Damini

Even after 7 long years of passing the accused are yet to be convicted. One of the accusers has died while one has filed for mercy petition due to which others' case is still pending in the court.

Her parents have grown bitter out of pain and sorrow which this hypocrite justice system has served them. Case proceeding is formally over, evidence and witness all go on record against the inhuman accusers yet the court verdict is awaited.

Callout From 16 December 2012 Do We Remember Damini

Modi government created "Nirbhaya Fund" for women protection but only 1/4 of it has been put into use. If the government cannot secure justice for Damini’s departed soul and end her parent’s quest for justice then they have no right to use her name for the sake of naming women protection funds.

Do we still remember Damini? No! We do not remember her otherwise again in the December month of 2019 we would not be demanding justice of Dr. Priyanka Reddy, who was raped and burned alive to death.
