The news of Amritsar train accidenthas been trending everywhere since, the accident took place. During this occasion of Dusshera while burning the Ravan effigy many people lost their lives as the speeding train ran over them.

Without any prior information, people organized this ceremony and the gathering of people didn’t realize that they are risking their life while standing on the railway tracks just to witness the Ravan effigy burning ceremony.

On this dark night, according to the media reports, more than 60 people lost their lives on this festive day. About more than 70 peoples have been injured in this accident. The tragedy took place at the “Joda Phatak” railway crossing area where a large crowd had gathered to watch the fireworks.

As the current news available, the driver or the railway authorities were not informed about the dusshera celebration and presence of many people on the railway track. Still, no steps have been taken against the organizers or any concerned authority from the railways' department. Whereas, the Punjab Chief Minister declared Rs 5 lakh to the kin of each deceased & free treatment to injured ingovernment and private hospitals.

The most important thing to be noted is “how any committee or the event organizer can take such kind of risk by organizing the event near the railway crossing”.
