Mob lynching is an unlawful act done by the uncontrolled crowd which is projected towards punishing a person accused of “said” crime. It is the anger outburst of the crowd who is frustrated enough to get violent in no time and is intolerant enough to jump to a conclusion without having a proper knowledge of facts or of reality.
A victim of mob lynching said to a news agency,” They beat us so much that my father died. My injuries have not healed yet. Since his death, we don’t dare take our cattle anywhere. We are afraid to step out of the house.”
We are the world’s largest democracy, independent since 1947 that is seven long decades of independence and if still, the people are afraid to move out of their houses, we need to think, “Are we free?” Anyone who is walking down the streets is a potential victim of mob lynching.
The increased cases of mob lynching are enough to show the frustration of masses, the emotional weakness and instability among people which has resulted in sudden anger outburst of mob and which can be as much insensitive and destructive in its approach that it does not hesitate even in taking the lives of people.
In today’s era, where peace and universal brotherhood are the ultimate goals, we need to empathize with the victims and try to find out the reason for the frustration of mob. We must try to know the source of so much hatred among people. The sanity and sensitivity of the people need to be restored. We must teach ourselves the lessons of civilization and love. We need to know that crowd has neither a face nor an ideology. Mob lynching is only an act of violence and absolutely as no motive. Mob lynching is never about the assassination of a human but is always about the assassination of the spirit of a nation. The nation is always about its countrymen and hence the mob lynching is undoubtedly a blot on India which we have to remove by preaching the true ideals of this country as unity, brotherhood and love.
