Reservation Is Not A Fundamental Right : Supreme Court

Playing text to speech

The Supreme Court, while hearing a case on Thursday, made a big comment about a reservation. In the NEET Post Graduation Reservation case in Tamil Nadu, the court said that reservation is not a fundamental right. With this, the court refused to accept a petition filed by several political parties in Tamil Nadu.

In fact, several parties in Tamil Nadu, including DMK-CPI-AIADMK, had filed a petition in the Supreme Court on the matter of 50 percent OBC reservation in Tamil Nadu for seats in medical colleges under NEET. A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on Thursday.

During the hearing on Thursday, the Supreme Court said that whose fundamental right has been taken away in this case?

From your pleas, it seems that you are only talking about the well being of some people of Tamil Nadu. On behalf of the DMK, it was said in the court that we are not asking the court to add more reservation, but rather to implement what is there.

Meanwhile, Justice Rao said that reservation is not a fundamental right, you withdraw the petition from the Supreme Court and file it in the High Court.

However, while commenting during this, the Supreme Court said that we are happy that all political parties have come together on one issue, but we will not listen to this petition. However, we are not dismissing it and giving you a chance to hear before the High Court.

Let me tell you that even before this, such a comment has been made by the Supreme Court regarding reservation that it is not a fundamental right of any kind. Clearly even the apex court of this country justifies that "reservation" is an act of upliftment and not a lollypop juggling promotion which makes the society forced to take support and not become self-dependent.

Indian Youth should decide whether they want a "New India" to be based on merit or only on the reservation which has not practically benefited the labeled socio-economic "weaker" section....time to think mates as to whether reservation benefited or busted you all in all.
