Why there is no Windows 9?

By MindStick

Microsoft has not given an official reason for the decision to retire Windows 9. There are, however, various theories to examine.

Microsoft may have eliminated Windows 9 to promote Windows 10, a significant improvement over prior versions.

Some programmes utilise the string "Windows 9", so Microsoft may have skipped Windows 9 to prevent compatibility concerns with legacy software.

Microsoft may have wanted to develop a new brand for Windows 10, bypassing Windows 9, to express a distinct product and a different user experience.

Microsoft aimed to avoid confusion with Windows 95 and Windows 98, which are still widely used by some individuals.
