On October 13, 2023, the Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2023 report was released.
According to the report, hunger has improved slightly since 2015, but progress has been slow, with a moderate worldwide Hunger Index score for 2023.
Moreover, GHI score for 2023 is 18.3, which is regarded as moderate. However, there is considerable variety across locations and countries.
India's GHI score of 28.7, considered serious, ranked 111th out of 125 countries in 2023 report, slightly improving from 2015 but slipping since 2020.
They urged Indian government to tackle hunger's root causes like poverty, inequality, malnutrition, investing in healthcare, education & agriculture.
