Do fish pee?

By MindStick

Yes, fish do pee. They have kidneys, just like humans, and they use them to filter waste products out of their blood. And even poop.

The amount of urine produced by a fish is determined by its species and the habitat in which it lives.

Freshwater fish pee more frequently than saltwater fish because they must constantly rid their bodies of extra water that enters through their gills.

Saltwater fish, on the other hand, must preserve water and hence make less urine.

Remember the next time you're swimming in the ocean or looking at a fish tank that the fish around you are continually peeing.
