Rahul Gandhi summoned by ED

Playing text to speech

The National Herald, a newspaper produced by the Congress party, was published by the associated journals. Nehru founded it in 1938, but the paper ran out in 2008, leaving behind a debt of 90 crores.

What is National Harold Case?

In 2010, Rahul Gandhi became a director of a firm named 'Young Indian,' and Sonia Gandhi became a substantial stakeholder. 'Young Indian' paid merely Rs 50 lakh to the All-India Congress Committee to waive off a Rs 90 crore debt from associated journals.

The loan, worth 90 crores, was purchased for 50 lakhs, which meant that the debt, as well as the assets of related publications, were now controlled by 'Young Indian,' in which the mother-son combination possessed a 76 percent stake.

The other stockholders are said to have been unaware of the takeover. The Gandhi's have been accused of deception, conspiracy, and financial embezzlement. These claims, however, have no validity in the eyes of the Congress party. This case is fictitious and false in their eyes. The agency, the Enforcement Directorate, has just recently reactivated it at the request of the governing BJP, which is the charge leveled by the Congress party.

Perhaps the Congress party has forgotten that the income tax tribunal upheld the Gandhi family's case in March this year. In its order, they said very clearly that Gandhi acquired the benefit of not just one or two rupees but 394 crore rupees by a fraudulent takeover of the associated journals' limited properties. These are not my words; these are words in the judgment of the income tax tribunal.

They said that properties worth over 800 crores of associated journals were transferred without paying taxes or stamp duties. Add to it a Delhi court ruling from 2018 that denied Gandhi's request for relief from the IT department's actions against them.

What will happen if Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are arrested?

The Congress would probably win a landslide victory, and the BJP would lose power if the present BJP administration arrested Sonia and Rahul Gandhi. People will quickly rally behind Congress, and all political parties will unite against the BJP.

The Janata Party, which came to power in 1977 after defeating Mrs. Indira Gandhi, made the error of detaining her, and they were swept out in the next election. I am sure the BJP will not make this mistake, especially now that the wind is already blowing against them.

Even if Rahul Gandhi gets jailed, he will continue to be the Congress Party's President. He may also run for office since a politician is only barred from running for office if he is convicted in a court of law and sentenced to more than three years in prison.

How likely is it that Rahul and Sonia Gandhi will be imprisoned in the National Herald case?

This is both practical and advantageous.

Why can't the Congress leadership go to prison if politicians like Chautala, Laloo Yadav, Jayalalitha, and others can?

The same Congress is in charge of 2G, CWG, and the National Herald, among other things. However, all of these are situations of indirect corruption in which we may succeed in imprisoning individuals like Kalmadi. Still, we may never reach the top of the leadership in such circumstances.

Aside from this fraud, there are others in which Gandhi's is given out for free. Nobody knows whether Subramanium Swamy or Prashant Bhushan would bring them to justice.

If these individuals are imprisoned, it may be beneficial to Congress because they can replace this inept leadership with someone much more capable. This new leadership will have to emerge independently of the Gandhis and need to be backed up by other congress leaders.

The only issue I have is when Congress will revolt and replace its current leadership.
