On November 4th, Morbi District Collector GT Pandya said that Chief Officer of Morbi Municipality Sandipsinh Zala has been suspended by the state Urban Development Department. *The Oreva firm was handed a 15-year contract by the Morbi Municipality* for bridge maintenance and repair. Nine people have been detained by police in relation to the bridge fall incident thus far. The bridge had the capacity to hold 150–200 people, however a cctv image shows that there were close to 500–600 people using it. Before the bridge was reopened to the public on October 26th, Gujarati New Year, **Oreva had been working on its [rehabilitation](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/32850/what-is-section-503-of-the-rehabilitation-act-of-1973) for about seven months**. The bridge was reopened following a private inauguration event, but it had not yet received the municipality's 'fitness certificate.' A request to establish a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by a retired SC judge has been submitted through the PIL. According to eyewitnesses, **15 to 20 young people started creating havoc** and shaking the bridge in the center of the bridge. People complained to the administrator, but nothing was done.
