# Moving towards a faster and efficient India: 5G trials in India

The **‘internet’** is both very commonly accessible and easily misunderstood term. Many people misunderstand it as a freestanding entity but the truth is, it has [government](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/276/performance-of-government-in-the-center) [organizations](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/84018/why-should-b2b-organizations-use-content-marketing), industries and multiple companies, major internet providers and [tech](https://www.mindstick.com/services/technologies) companies lending support in its [development](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/65309/importance-of-ux-design-in-the-development-of-mobile-apps), [infrastructure](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2313/a-cybersecurity-and-infrastructure-security-agency-will-monitor-the-us-midterm-elections) & management. Hence, it is not a freely operated agency.

Any development or change in internet will require the collaboration and oversight of all the aforementioned authorities. **One such development has been brought up in India in the form of 5G trials announced from May, 2021** and they have already been started in **Pune.**

To catalyst the [growing demand](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/113807/how-can-education-systems-address-the-growing-demand-for-skills-in-the-evolving-job-market) for high-speed internet in [our country](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/82/religious-conflicts-a-never-ending-trail-of-our-country) this decision has been taken by the government. It realized that as the foundational [technology](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/13005/the-functional-aspects-of-laser-technology) of our age, internet is one of the most basic necessity among others, which are required for progression and development in the society**. The transition to the fifth generation (5G) has become a necessity in the pandemic-struck world, with schools, offices, and industries relying on home networks for their connectivity.**

## Bandwidth of 5G spectrum:

The 5G spectrum specializes in 3 types of bandwidths:

• Low- has wide coverage and signal penetration; but low speed (up to 100 mbps)

• Medium- has limited coverage till industries and factories; and higher speed.

• High- has extremely narrow coverage & signal penetration strength and high speeds (up to 20 gbps)

Huge tech-giants in India have been given the [responsibility](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/104498/what-is-the-significance-of-the-fiscal-responsibility-and-budget-management-act) to undertake trials, like- *[Reliance Jio](https://www.mindstick.com/news/520/covid-19-reliance-jio-braves-challenges-to-enhance-net-profit-by-47-5-to-rs-3-508-cr-in-q4-2021), Bharti Airtel, Vodafone-Idea and MTNL.*

• They would be carried out in **urban, semi-urban and rural** areas.

• The trails are supposed to be conducted for **6 months** during which 2 months will be taken for procurement and setting-up of equipment.
