Adding to the woes, the adverse impact of the slowdown had been disproportionately high on youngsters as compared to the adult . For millions of workers, no income means no food, no security and no future means it’s difficult for them to survive . Small traders, hawkers, daily wage earners are the people who have come back. They are the ones who could quickly get out and get into the labour market. Stressed under lockdown people now taking even low-paying jobs for which they are not satisfied earlier . According to [statistics](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/44913/who-is-the-minister-of-statistics-and-programme-implementation) compiled by the Centre for [Monitoring](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/116504/what-is-portfolio-monitoring) [Indian Economy](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/81384/indian-economy-confronting-problematic-oil-prices) (CMIE), a privately run data firm, 122 million Indians lost their jobs last month, with the [unemployment rate](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/62174/as-per-the-periodic-labor-force-survey-which-state-has-the-highest-unemployment-rate) which was 6.7 per cent on March 15 2020 , falling to near 24 per cent in April 2020 . As job losses escalate, nearly half of global workforce at risk of losing livelihoods in coming days . Millions of businesses around the world are barely [breathing](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/299751/what-causes-breathing-problems) just by the name of few growth in their income . They have no savings or access to credit for their family security in coming future . These are the real faces of the world of work in India. India will take 'years' to recover from this unemployment crisis which had taken many innocent livelihoods . India's massive work force is being hit hard by coronavirus pandemic since March 2020.
