# Donald Trump Impeachment Case: What Will Eventually Happen?

The [Republican Party](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/51369/what-event-affected-the-birth-of-the-republican-party) candidate for next [**Presidential elections 2020**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_United_States_presidential_election) and Current United [States of America](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/42839/why-do-we-say-united-states-of-america-instead-of-united-states) [**President Donald Trump**](https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-50702976) is all set to battle out the impeachment lead by the major opposition party and arch-rival the Democratic Party.

While the White House has clearly stated not to get involved in the [impeachment proceedings](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/38068/who-can-initiate-impeachment-proceedings-against-the-president-of-india) still people are curious to know as to what will happen next and what Trump and team will do next?

There are different aspects to it. Firstly, let's understand the constitutional aspect- According to Article I, Section 3 of the United [States constitution](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/42680/why-has-florida-s-constitution-changed-more-often-than-the-united-states-constitution) says -

"Judgment in cases of impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to indictment, trial, judgment, and punishment."

The second aspect is the political one where in order to disallow Trump from holding the office again in the future, the Senate must vote separately with a simple majority in order to work it out.

This scenario is highly unworkable as the Senate is controlled by the majority party Republicans who are totally pro with him as he is their already declared [Presidential candidate](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/41799/which-presidential-candidate-used-the-campaign-slogan-back-to-normalcy-because-americans-were-eager-for-stability-and-order) for next year's US [Presidential election](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/51260/why-was-the-presidential-election-of-2008-considered-historic).

Even after this if things go very against US President Donald Trump then in a theoretical manner he has the golden opportunity to take redemption through the election process.

In other words, he can run for the election and with the highest probability of winning the next USA Presidential election, he would be re-elected for the second term in office at White House.

To take out an important piece of history we can trace the previous pages of the book as to where two previous American presidents Andrew Johnson and [**Bill Clinton**](https://edition.cnn.com/videos/business/2019/12/08/trump-clinton-impeachment-parallels-press-coverage-fact-stelter-monologue-rs-vpx.cnn) were impeached by the [House of Representatives](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/44599/which-party-won-the-highest-number-of-seats-in-the-recently-concluded-elections-to-the-house-of-representatives-of-the-netherlands) but acquitted by the Senate.
