# India VS Pakistan: Military Powers

## Baap Baap Hota hai

Pakistan is just a part of the [Akhand Bharat](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/83193/pakistan-occupied-kashmir-is-an-integral-part-of-akhand-bharat) and there is no any comparison between Pak terrorist and Indian Army.

**India and Pakistan have fought thrice and in all three times, India has won.** Recently another [terror](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/334/is-war-a-solution) attack by Jaish E Mohammad (Pakistan based terror group) results into the death **of our 40 brave Indian soldiers.** In response, India has carried out air raids on rebel camps inside Pakistan, raising fears of a war between the two nuclear-armed South Asian nations.

Let’s compare the military arsenals of both countries:-

## Military Budget:

For 2018-19, Union Minister of **India allocated around Rs 404,365 crore($58bn),** or 2.1 percent of its gross domestic product (GDP), to support its 1.4 million active troops. **Pakistan spent Rs 126,423 crore Pakistani rupees ($11bn),** about 3.6 percent of its GDP, on its 653,800 troops. India invests almost five times on its [military](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/41242/why-was-george-washington-considered-a-great-military-leader) as compared to Pakistan army.

## Missiles and nuclear weapons:

Both the nations have ballistic [missiles](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/39707/name-the-scientific-adviser-to-raksha-mantri-and-director-general-missiles-and-strategic-systems-who-has-been-conferred-with-the-prestigious-national-design-award) which are capable of delivering nuclear weapons. India has a total **of nine types** of missiles, including the **Agni-3 with a range of 3,000km to 5,000km.**

Pakistan's missile **programme, with aid of Chinese assistance**, built mobile short- and medium-range weapons that can reach any part of India, CSIS said. The **Shaheen 2 has range, up to 2,000km.**

Pakistan confirmed that it had acquired tactical nuclear capability in 2011. India has 130 to 140 [nuclear](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/41457/which-aspect-of-president-eisenhower-s-foreign-policy-called-for-large-numbers-of-nuclear-weapons) warheads, compared with Pakistan’s 140-150 warheads.

## Army:

\

India has a **1.2 million-strong army**, more than **3,565 battle tanks**, **3,100 infantry fighting** vehicles, 336 armored personnel carriers and 9,719 pieces of artillery.

Pakistan's army is smaller, with **560,000 troops** backed by 2,496 tanks, **1,605 armored personnel carriers**, and **4,472 artillery guns**, including **375 self-propelled** howitzers.

Despite a larger army, the capability of India's conventional forces is limited because of inadequate logistics, maintenance, and shortages of ammunition and spare parts.

## Air Force:

**The** [**Indian air force**](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/35598/in-which-year-indian-air-force-established) **has 127,200 personnel** and **814 combat aircraft**, substantially larger but there are concerns about its fighter jet fleet. In running condition, **India has 610 combat aircraft**, 5 AWACS, 5 Reconnaissance, 3 [Electronic warfare](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/82564/aiming-at-russia-pentagon-sending-counter-drone-electronic-warfare), 6 Tanker, 338 Trainer Aircraft, 261 Transport, and 426 [Helicopters](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/38242/how-does-india-s-light-combat-helicopter-compare-with-other-attack-helicopters-like-the-apache-and-the-mil-mi-24). India's defense plans require 42 squadrons of jets, about 750 aircraft, to defend against a two-pronged attack from China and Pakistan. With older Russian jets like the **MiG-21, first used in the 1960s are retiring soon.**

Pakistan has **451** [**Combat**](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/39668/to-combat-air-pollution-which-country-has-build-world-s-biggest-air-purifier-a-328-feet-high-tower) **Aircraft**, **280 Trainer aircraft**, 39 Transport, 4 Tanker, 87 Helicopters, 3 electronic warfare, 7 AWACS and 85 Unmanned Aerial. The Pakistan air force is modernizing its inventory while improving its precision-strike and ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) capabilities.

## Navy

India's [navy](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/39722/what-is-the-name-of-first-made-in-india-scorpene-class-non-nuclear-submarine-which-was-inducted-into-indian-navy-on-14th-december-2017) is quite strong in comparison to Pakistan consists of **one Aircraft carrier, 16 Submarines, 14 Destroyers, 13 Frigates, 106 Patrol,** and C**oastal combatant vessels, and 75 Combat-capable aircraft.** Pakistan has a significantly smaller coastline, has only **9 Frigates, 8 Submarines, 17 Patrol** and **Coastal vessels, and 8 Combat-Capable aircraft.**
