The Amazon is the world's largest tropical rainforest, covering about 5.5–6.7 million square kilometers (roughly 2.1–2.6 million square miles).

It harbors around 10% of all known species on Earth, including over 40,000 plant species, 2,200+ fish, 1,300+ birds, 400+ mammals, and millions of ins

the largest river system by volume, stretching over 6,800 km. It carries about 20% of the world's freshwater and has more than 1,000 tributaries.

Billions of Trees The rainforest contains an estimated 390–400 billion individual trees from about 16,000 species.

Around 400–500 Indigenous tribes live in the Amazon, with dozens estimated to have no contact with the outside world.

Produces around 20% of the world’s oxygen.
