Atman is the eternal soul or self in Sanatan Dharma. It is the true essence of an individual—unchanging, infinite, and divine.
Unlike the body or mind, Atman is not affected by age, illness, or emotions. It is beyond the physical and mental layers of existence.
In Vedantic thought, Atman is not separate from Brahman—the ultimate reality. Realizing this unity is key to spiritual liberation (Moksha).
Self-realization is the understanding that one’s true nature is Atman. This inner awakening leads to peace, detachment, and wisdom.
Living with awareness of the Atman fosters compassion, purpose, and balance. It encourages a life rooted in truth and spiritual clarity.
