On December 18, 2023, the Surat Diamond Bourse, which holds the new title of opening, became the world's largest office building in Surat, India.
It consists of 7.1 million square feet of floor space, overcoming the Pentagon's previous record of 6.2 million square feet.
The SDB was built over five years by the Surat Diamond Merchants' Association (SDMA) at a cost of more than $1 billion.
The SDB, equipped with advanced security features like CCTV cameras and biometric scanners, is expected to generate over 100,000 employment.
The SDB, a symbol of the diamond industry, houses 65,000 professionals, restaurants, banks, hospitals, and meeting centres.
