Although it is annoying when some people snore so loudly, there are several reasons why it happens:
Due to vibrations in the throat and nasal passages, conditions such as a narrower airway and a deviated septum can produce greater snoring.
As we age, throat muscles get less elastic, resulting in more airway relaxation and louder snoring, which gets worse with alcohol and sedatives.
Sleeping on your back causes your tongue to slip back, partially covering your airway and raising the volume of your snoring.
Nasal congestion, allergies, colds, sinus infections, and weight gain can increase fatty tissue in the airway, potentially causing snoring sounds.
