Why do eyes become red?

By MindStick

When tears are not generated or evaporate rapidly enough, the conjunctiva becomes red, itchy, and burning.

Irritants such as smoke and dust can produce redness in the conjunctiva, whereas eye injuries can cause pain, edoema, and discharge.

Through pollen, dust, pet dander, viruses, bacteria, or fungi allergies can cause redness, irritation, itching, and discharge.

Wash your hands frequently to avoid red eyes, avoid eye rubs, use artificial tears for dry eyes, and avoid smoking and secondhand smoke.

If you are using contact lenses, regular cleaning and following your eye doctor's wear guidelines are necessary.
